Sanitation Technician (Grand Forks, ND)

We currently have a sanitation tech position available at our manufacturing facility in Grand Forks Plant – Grand Forks, ND. Grand Forks is a small community built on education, sports, family, agriculture, and the outdoors. SUMMARY This position will ensure the sanitation equipment is in proper working order, that chemicals are pumped for sanitation crews and for clean ups in a manner consistent with safety, quality and production goals. RESPONSIBILITIESSanitation Technicians are required to be cross-trained in all General Laborer functions.Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.Food Safety is everyone's responsibilityAttend and participate in all training activities for the position.
Ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.Ensures sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the entire facility.Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Must be a team player and help to meet operational goals.Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures that personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job functions while representing the Company.Performs all such other duties as may be reasonably assigned by Manager.Ensure the chemical handling procedures are followed in a timely and skilled manner in accordance with operational goals, safety policies and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of chemicals, their uses, dangers and accidental exposure procedures. Ensure information is properly recorded in logbook.Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the lift truck (forklift) and successfully pass the certification test requirements. This training and certification are requirements in accordance with OSHA 1910.78 standards for Material Handling and Storage using Powered Industrial Trucks. Must be able to complete training for Man-lift and scissor lift operations. Must be able to use the floor scrubbers. Ensures foaming units and portable foaming units are in working order.Ensure areas that are assigned to them are cleaned on a regular basis.Responsibility to operate and maintain the floor scrubber BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Must have successfully completed the Job Skill Evaluation to begin training in the position. Must complete the Structured Job Training program within recommended timeframe to remain in the position permanently.
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages to make proper adjustments and calibrations, as required. Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, ie a bag of ingredients
Must be able to demonstrate manual and physical dexterity.
Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.
Must be able to tell time and be able to convert regular time to military time.
Must be able to use a computer and successfully navigate through various applications.
Must be proficient at computer system data entry.
Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks on a regular basis.
Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.
Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, humid and slippery).
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to identify hazards and report to appropriate personnel.
Must have an acceptable attendance record.
Must have an acceptable safety record.
Must be able to work in stressful situations.
Must be able to sit on a forklift for long periods of time.
Must possess or obtain in first week of job a Simplot forklift license. REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be available to work any shift (7am-7 pm or 7pm-7am). Pre-employment drug testing and background checks are required. Must have good communication, math and computer skills. Employees work a 2-week rotation, working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (4 shifts) on Week 1 and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (3 shifts) on Week 2. Employees will be assigned to either 7AM to 7PM or 7PM to 7AM shifts. The monthly schedule does not include rotating from nights to days. Employees enjoy having a 3-day weekend every other week.
