Scientist, Gilroy The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the development of new seed technologies across multiple species and identifying methods to enhance seed performance. The role requires that the job holder utilizes their experience of working in a biological sciences area with knowledge of plant and seed physiology for the furtherance of product development in order to enable the business to remain at the forefront of technology in the market, therefore an understanding of soil science and plant nutrition is advantageous. Key Responsibilities would be: Perform research and development of new seed treatments and enabling technologies for the improvement of germination and vigour of seeds as directed within definied projects.To fully utilize company systems to accurately record all results, provide detailed statistical analysis of relevant information and to provide interpretation of results keeping projects on track for delivery.Conduct statistical analysis on study results to identify patterns and trends.Write clear and concise reports to enable the presentation of findings and conclusions, as well as proposed next steps.Assist in the investigation of product non-conformances and implementing corrective actions as directed by the NCR team to improve product qualitySupport the transfer technical knowledge to the manufacturing team to allow large scale application of new technologiesGenerate data and reports and communicate product efficacy information as directed to the commercial team while protecting the intellectual property of GermainsWork as directed with operations to periodically review manufacturing processes to ensure that quality and maximum efficiencies are being achieved through all processes.Manage specific ad hoc projects within specified timescalesTo build effective internal and external relationships to ensure a clear understanding of customer needs and represent the business in a professional manner.To propose field trial layouts, and provide effective execution of the field trial, compile and present data analysis to key stakeholdersChemical ordering and SDS sheet maintenance for the departmentExperience required is as follows:Minimum 1-3 years postgraduate experience in biological sciences area with experience in seed physiology and the conduct of laboratory and agricultural field trials. Education: As a minimum, candidate should hold a MSc Degree in a relevant physical or biological science (PhD would be preferable) A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered for the role which will be commensurate with the experience and track record of the successful candidate.
