Learn more at www.adm.comScientist III/IV- Decatur, ILADM ResearchThis is a full time, exempt position ADM Cell Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in microbial physiology. The successful candidate will design and execute physiological analysis of microbial strains and fermentation optimization projects in support of strain development efforts at ADM Research. In this role the candidate will be responsible for ideation, study design, study execution, and reporting of recommendations to group leaders.
Job responsibilities will include: a) analyzing the physiology of microbial strains at laboratory scale in support of the Design-Build-Test-Learn cycle of microbial strain development; b) providing value to ADM business units through design and execution of fermentation process optimization projects; c) developing technical expertise and extending the group?s knowledge base in the areas of microbial physiology and fermentation processes; d) managing fermentation optimization projects, and communicating outcomes, recommendations, and next steps to Biotechnology Research leaders.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work under minimal direction, be able to develop experimental strategies and interact with other scientists to support projects in strain development, metabolic engineering and fermentation.
Requirements: ? Ph.D. degree or equivalent and relevant experience in microbial physiology, fermentation science, molecular microbiology, or related field.? 2+ years of experience with operating bench scale fermentation systems with the objective of providing deep physiological understanding of microbial strains and optimizing commercial fermentation processes.Experience in the use of statistical analysis and experimental design.? Subject matter expertise in microbial physiology, carbon and energy metabolism, and stress responses. ? Preferred candidate will have industrial biotechnology experience, demonstrating delivery of value to the business through execution of projects.? Excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel? Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams to coordinate the transfer of bench scale knowledge through scale-up to provide value for the business.
