Scientist II, Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Expert
Come join our Industrial Biosciences team at our Palo Alto, California location as a ScientistII, Molecular Biologist-Expert in Flow Cytometry and Cell SortingWe are looking for a highly motivatedand accomplished scientist to join the Molecular Biology group of IndustrialBiosciences. The successful applicant will have a proven record of innovativeresearch in at least one of the following areas: molecular biology, microbial/fungal physiology, and protein expression/secretion and experience in cellsorting/ flow cytometry/microfluidics techniques for strain selection. Experience with robotic and high-throughput screeningis highly desirable and know-how of fermentation is considered an asset. Theday to day duties will include performing and guiding others in the developmentand execution of experiments employing single cell techniques for projectsaimed at commercializing proteins and small molecules. The successful candidate will be involved in all thesteps needed for strain selection including flow cytometry analysis, microfluidics, newtechnology evaluations, and detection methods, data analysis, interpretation,reporting and follow up discussions. The applicant must have strongorganizational and communication skills and the ability to work in global,multidisciplinary teams. Leadershippotential is essential. The candidate will work in a strong collaborativeenvironment and will be expected to help and mentor other employees in theexperimental design and execution of experiments aimed to achieve short- andlong-term project goals.Qualifications:Ph.D.in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry or equivalentindustry experience. Atleast 2 years Post-doctoral experience with a solid publication record in theabove areasThesuccessful candidate will be a creative scientist withexperience in cell sorting/ flow cytometry/microfluidics techniques, excellent troubleshooting skills, and leadership innew technology development and implementation.Knowledge of microbial physiology,fermentation, and protein expression/secretion considered an asset.Experiencein biochemistry and skills in computational approaches / bioinformatics arepreferable. Excellentcommunication skills and the desire to work within a multidisciplinary team arerequired.Proven ability to effectively mentor & developjunior colleagues in FACS troubleshooting and emerging new technologiesThesuccessful candidate must be motivated, creative, have strong problem solvingand critical thinking skills, and be able to excel working independently and ina collaborative setting.
