YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Technology Scientist (Parma, Idaho) are to:
Execute production research projects in the Operations Technology team in order to contribute scientifically to the development of innovative competitive products;
Initiate and participate in external research projects with other companies and universities and monitor activities of competitors in order to ensure a good competitive position;
Ensure having new key state of the art technologies, procedures and products available as well as keep up-to-date with respect to fast changing scientific developments. Analyze potential impacts and implement new technologies and procedures in order to realize up-to-date, efficient and effective research methods and techniques to create added value and enable the sound translation to Operations;
Collaborate closely with the Crop Technology Lead on the development and implementation of an X-crop technology strategy for Operations;
Advise, propose, communicate and inform the Regional Head of Operations Technology regarding the long term and short term research opportunities in order to facilitate, advise and enable divisional and management decision making;
Regularly and professionally update the Global Seed Supply teams and Crop Technology Lead on project progress;
Design the operational plan for the research team and prepare, check and control the approved research budgets, analyze discrepancies in realization and budget within the guidelines of research and check. the realization of the budget in order to ensure a correct and optimal realization of the research team budget and control research costs;
Successfully deliver highly important and urgent ad hoc projects with pressing deadlines in order to achieve the agreed quality standards, time planning and budgets for all projects;
Collaborate with other functions (Production, R&D, M&S and Seed Supply) to achieve project goals.

More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to lead production research in our Operations Technology team. With the proper balance of a scientific approach and practical pragmatism you will take on the following tasks:
Masters or Ph.D. in assigned area of expertise (for example:, Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Ecology, Seed Technology or related area);
Work experience in related area (>3 years (PhD), >5 years, MSc), preferably in a seed company;
Project management skills and experience;
Extensive knowledge of own research field;
Communication skills, team player who can also work independently;
Creativity and pro-activity;
Functional competencies: Interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, convincing, entrepreneurship, innovative, solving problems.
