Emergency and safety equipment. Assist Process Development, Plant Engineering, and Research personnel on special trial or experimental production runs. Provide communication between hourly personnel and management.  The Supervisor is responsible for providing information to both subordinates and superiors. Perform weekend and holiday duties on rotational a basis with other supervisors.  These duties include 24 hour emergency call, equipment check, and lab work. Perform other assignments and duties as directed by supervisor, including but not limited to, scheduling and preparation of production records, equipment maintenance and repair, shipping clerk, process operator, or lab analysts jobs in situations of extreme hourly employee shortages (absences, etc.). Provide and foster a workplace that protects the health and safety of the employees and the environment.  Assist in maintaining a work environment that complies with all Heath, Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulatory and company guidelines. Perform operation duties of other Product and Laboratory Supervisors with regard to plant functions in their absence.  Conduct special project assignments as related to process or product improvements. Resolve problems causing production shutdown, substandard production, or low efficiencies whenever they occur.  This requires sufficient knowledge for identification of causes and decisive action. Act with minimal guidance as he/she may be the only supervisor available in the plant on his/her shift.  Supervisors or manufacturing staff are usually consulted for unusual problems, but the incumbent will be expected to provide recommendations.
