Position Summary: ADM Edible Bean Specialties is the industry leader in dry beans and is seeking a qualified highly motivated candidate for Edible Bean Seed Sales Manager to work in the Western Canadian Provinces as well as Northern US market.
Seed Sales Manager will work to promote and sell EBSI Seedwest seed varieties to seed dealers in the Western Canada and Northern US market.
This currently includes dry beans and could expand to include dry peas, garbanzo beans and other pulses. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, confident individual with an interest in agronomy and edible bean seed sales and would be responsible for increasing dry bean sales in region, by working with area dealers and farmers to introduce newly developed varieties into the region.
Managing test plots to identify new varieties would be part of this introduction plan. Understanding the customer?s needs and history; making sales, and sales calls; writing contracts, establishing releases; following-up on shipments, credit, and payments; and field visits to observe variety performance are all essential to this position.
Under the direction of the General Manager of Seedwest the successful candidate shall have the following responsibilities. Job Responsibilities: Priority will be to expand and develop increased sales of dry edible beans in Canada and northern ND and secondarily to lead company growth in dry peas, garbanzo beans and lentils in the regionAssist in developing and executing a business plan and sales strategy for the assigned geographic market and seed market classes that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitabilityPrepare action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospectsInitiate and coordinate development of action plans to penetrate new markets according to the strategic roadmap of the EBSI Seedwest businessDevelop product knowledge of Seedwest and competitors? varietiesProvide agronomic support and advice to seed customer and troubleshooting customer complaintsProvide assistance in crop production, planning, forecasting, and inventory management.Responsible for setting up, planting and evaluating test plots and identifying new varieties suitable for the local climateAssists in the development and implementation of marketing and trade show material such as variety brochures. Assistance in crop production, planning, forecasting, and inventory management are requiredMaintains contact with all customers in the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfactionMaintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, activity reports and contract balances
Job Requirements: US or Canadian citizenship4-7 years of experience in seed sales, agronomy or agriculture sales related field.
Prior experience in dry bean, dry pea, or lentil is preferredQualified candidate should have B.S. degree in Agronomy, Plant or Soil Science, General Ag, Ag Business or Mechanized Ag are preferred but not limited to these degree areasExperience in setting up, planting and evaluating test plots and identifying new varieties suitable for the loc
