Seed Technician – #01GLK
Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work as part of the Kunia PreFoundation corn team as a Seed Technician.Seed Technicians are involved in all facets of seed production within a seed production location. This may include crop production, harvest, conditioning, maintenance, packaging, or warehousing. Seed Technicians are key members of our team ensuring the highest quality product for our customers. Working at the front-end of our production, Seed Technicians are essential to the overall success of our company and the timely, efficient and high-quality product delivery. Seed Technicians work closely with on-site personnel in an effort to continuously improve our processes and consistently establish the highest standards in the industry for safety, seed quality, cost and supply reliability Responsibilities: Demonstrate proficiency (including all IT functions for that area) of assigned Functional Jobs including: Planting Prep Scouting & Field Notes Pollination Activities Harvest & Drying Conditioning & ShellingSampling & ShippingOperate and maintain appropriate equipment for a given job/task and follow all safety and quality requirementsDemonstrate leadership by making operational decisions, taking ownership of safety and quality in area of responsibilityCollect and enter data as well as provide progress and summary reports and as required for maintaining records and making operational decisionsTroubleshoot problems and perform basic maintenance (preventative maintenance, small repairs, part replacements, minimal down-time type issues and documentation) to keep the process or operation functioning properlySupport management team by fostering teamwork with all employeesQualifications:Requirements:High school education Proficiency in use of email (MS Outlook), remote meeting tools (WebEx) and other Microsoft applicationsFlexible work schedule and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as necessary to complete weekly tasksAbility to work in a team environment and expresses a genuine intention to work cooperatively with others but function independentlyWorks with a sense of urgency, identifies and overcomes obstacles, takes necessary risks; balancing big picture concerns with day-to-day activitieDesired Skills/Experience:Advanced training in college or trade school is desirableDemonstrated ability to act independently, prioritize, and influences others on a regular basis Strong foresight, planning, prioritization and organization skills Working knowledge of agricultural practicesDemonstrated ability to act independently, prioritize, and influences others on a regular basisMonsanto is an agriculture company with more than 20,000 employees focused on making a balanced meal accessible to everyone.
