Seed Technician – #01SAX
We are seeking a motivated Seed Technician. This position will be located in Kihei, HI, reporting to our Agronomic Lead. This individual will assist in all facets of the Agronomy program to support sustainable seed production, research and land stewardship. The successful candidate will be mainly focused on precision planting, crew management and safety but also will have the opportunity to work in all operations related to the agronomic management of crops, including field preparation, irrigation, scouting and crop protection when time allows. Key Responsibilities:Follow and support all site safety rules and regulations, including performing safety inspections and training to ensure a safe working environment.Assist with all aspects of the team including but not limited to: field crew supervision/training/scheduling, planting, netting, GIS mapping, equipment calibration, regulatory compliance, GPS RTK ??? setup, utilization, and maintenance.Operate and maintain vehicles and agricultural equipment such as tractors and farm implements that are required for the job. Assist with training operators.Operate tractor and planter, including Redwing revolver cassette planter, setup, troubleshoot. Ensure successful and accurate placement of seed in the ground.Troubleshoot problems and perform basic mechanical, electrical and preventative maintenance on field equipment.Document accurate records of all agronomic activities associated to each field and farm using farm management software.Proficiency in use of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.Assist in other projects and perform other duties as required.Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:High School Diploma or GEDProficient operation of computers and mobile devicesAbility to work without direct supervision in a diverse team environmentAbility to balance and prioritize tasks during peak seasons, along with working extended hours as neededExperience in farm equipment operationStrong written and verbal communication skillsValid driver???s license Desired Skills/Experience:Associates or Bachelor???s DegreeStrong foresight, planning, prioritization and organization skillsBroad knowledge of crop production and farming practices as well as farm equipment operation and repairExperience with GIS, GPS and other advanced agronomic technologiesDemonstrated record of process improvements and innovationPrecision planting experienceStrong safety culture Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
