Senior Accountant Job Summary Jackson Farming Company is a family owned business that has been in the produce industry for over 37 years. We grow, pack and distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to retail, food-service and government customers as well as grow corn, cotton, peanuts, rye, soybean, tobacco and wheat. As we continue to grow we are looking for a Senior Accountant to provide onsite supervision of the accounting functions as well as prepare analytical information to management to assist in making critical financial decisions. Role and ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a self-directed, experienced Senior Accountant to undertake all aspects of cost accounting, financial reporting and budget preparation. Requires thorough knowledge of cost accounting procedures in the agriculture industry including, but not limited to, growing, harvesting, and transporting; extensive Excel and general ledger systems knowledge; the ability to perform in a fast-paced high-pressure environment and to manage long-distance functions and personnel; direct work of accounting staff to successfully meet financial deadlines; strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must be eager to jump right in and quickly learn the business and processes. Must also be eager and willing to perform and support day-to-day basic accounting and general office/business/management tasks. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:Prepares daily bank summaries for all entitiesSupervises accounts payable entry and reconciliationSupervises weekly accounts payable files for all companies to submit for payment approvalCompletes all grower settlementsCredit and adjustment entries for accounts receivableInter-company accounts payable billingPrepares monthly shipped reportsCreate cost and job IDs and general ledger accountsPrepare and run weekly payrollTrack payroll information for workers’ comp monthly premium calculationsPrepare all information required for annual workers’ comp insurance auditCost tracking and analysisRecording and tracking of company assetsInventory trackingEnd of year inventory analysisAccounting file maintenanceSpecial projects as assignedCreate monthly G/L journal entriesCreate monthly P/L and balance sheet reportsPrepare year end income tax schedules for CPA Qualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor’s degree or higher with an Accounting concentrationSubstantial experience performing cost accounting duties.Proven track record of increased responsibility.Energetic, knowledgeable, and respectful management style.Strong organizational development skills.Solid understanding of cost accounting and analysisKnowledge and expertise in FAMOUS (Payroll & Accounting software) or similar softwareAbility to work independently, prioritize and organize responsibilities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.Proficiency in the English language, verbal and written and ability to communicate with team members and inter-company personnel.Knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, email, FAMOUS and ability to learn other programs.Ability to exercise independent professional judgment.This role may require periodic travel Job Type: Full-time Salary Salary: DOE Equal Employment Opportunity EmployerApply for this job.
