Senior Application Scientist, Oral Care
NATURE OF WORK/SCOPE OF POSITION Responsible for complex technical projects from experimental design to completion. Includes testing, analytical procedures, equipment setup and preparation of standards and product materials under minimal supervision. Employees in positions at this level independently apply intensive and diversified knowledge of scientific research in broad areas of assignments and related fields. They also require a moderate level of business acumen. They may supervise/coordinate staff as appropriate Develop work-plans to manage work for new product launches that may have a considerable influence on scientific knowledge or technological developments. *Target hire date: 1st quarter of 2019 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out individually or by others. Provide technical service, both in-house and on-site to oral care customers with a focus on growing the hydrocolloids business. Review scientific literature, abstracts, patents and applicable method papers as appropriate. Keep up-to-date on trends, new technical developments and competitor’s activities by monitoring applications for processing systems and ingredients in oral care. Deliver and create value-added solutions to customers. Build strong technical credibility with customers. Provide technical services to Customers, Sales and Divisions as needed (plant trials, troubleshooting, and training). Implement and adhere to DuPont core values and safety initiatives. Report accidents promptly to Management.May develop or assist with development of new product and application literature, including Technical Memorandums, Technical Notes, Technical Papers, invention disclosures and patents.Maintain appropriate documentation for experiments, GMPs, ISO, FSMA, Bioterrorism and others as required. Maintain an understanding of DuPont’s quality and environmental policies and procedures. Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Biological, Chemical or Food Science or related degree 10-15 years in the oral care industry. The ability to supervise, mentor and train junior scientists.
