The Inventory and Costing Senior Cost Analyst position has responsibility for accurate and timely month-end closing, account reconciliations, and production cost variance analysis for Supply Chain. This person will also be responsible for the more in-depth analysis work required by the team product costing, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with Corporate Controller and SOX policies. This position will be relied on to be a leader for the team by providing training, coaching, and guidance to Process Cost Analysts. Primary responsibilities include: Accounting ??? Closing:Ensure month-end closing activities (material ledger closing, cost center assessment, order settlement, etc.), account reconciliations and production cost variance analysis are completed by Cost Analysts on a timely basis, providing guidance as appropriate Oversee goods in transit reconciliation and open order aging Monthly reviews with Finance leadership related to cost variance analysis and inventory analysis to ensure financials appropriately reflect the business results in compliance with accounting policies and procedures.Drive for efficient closing and account reconciliations processes Accounting/Compliance/ProcessDevelop standard unit cost for annual budget processes; lead the development and creation of standard cost estimates established at the beginning of each fiscal year Drive process improvements related to inventory valuation, costing processes, forecasting and closing activities.Develop cost center activity rates annually, determining adjustments as appropriate during the yearDetermine updates to cost center assessment cycles each year Ensure compliance with Corporate Controller and SOX policies related to inventory balances and product costingProvide support to external and internal auditors related to product cost and inventory accounts for SOX, inventory and financial auditsOversee preparation of monthly Balance Sheet Analysis for InventoryLead preparation and presentation of annual Balance Sheet Review for inventory, preparing analysis for review by Corporate Controller and External Audit Partners / RepresentativesContribute to system enhancements to enable better reporting & analysis on inventory, cost, and production support, and provide guidance, leadership and innovation for continuous process improvements and drive for efficiencies and optimization of overall manufacturing finance support. Lead training of Cost Analysts to perform all responsibilities of their functionBusiness and Financial Analysis ??? Support:Provide support to Regional Manufacturing and Commercial Finance Analysts to develop monthly, quarterly and full year COGS forecast; prepare monthly COGM bridge comparing forecast to actual variances; prepare bridges comparing prior year and current year actual results for the month, quarter and YTD periods. Work closely with Manufacturing Finance Analysts to understand cost center budgets and forecasts and any related variances to determine impact on standard unit costLead any required mid-year standard cost estimate updates and ensure updates reflect latest cost results and assumptions as well as sourcing decisions to ensure accurate cost estimate update and rest of year forecastExecute the over/under absorption analysis and WIP analysis/distribution; lead standard cost estimate updates as appropriate based on the results of the analysesImplement changes in Costing methodology as approved Work with plant and field personnel to improve understanding of their impact on costing, address financial-related questions and issues, ensuring proper accounting controls, policies and documentation are maintained, evaluate cost savings opportunities and leverage areas to improve cost position Partner with FP&A analysts to provide appropriate cost information for portfolio analysis and decision makingTake on additional responsibilities and perform special projects as neededQualifications:Required skills/experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree or CPA/CMA preferred6+ years Accounting or Finance experienceExcellent Knowledge of SAP, specifically the FI-GL and FI-CO modules Excellent Excel skillsPrior Cost Accounting ExperienceSolid accounting skills and understanding of corporate policiesProblem solving skillsExcellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skillsFluent in Spanish/Portuguese preferredFlexible in a fast paced, changing environment Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
