KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Senior Counsel is responsible for providing legal and compliance advice globally, relevant to the operations and regulations of Bunge’s Product Lines business. In particular, the Senior Counsel provides advice and guidance as to economic regulations that impact the commodities trading activities globally for Bunge. The Senior Counsel will handle economic sanctions, OFAC and Export Controls reports to the General Counsel, Product Lines.The position is based in White Plains, and provides compliance advice and counsel locally as well as to the global trading operations including those located in Geneva, Miami, St. Louis and Singapore. As part of the Product Lines business, the Senior Counsel will be operating in a highly matrixed environment, interfacing with the business lines traders and leaders. S/He will need to build relationships within the network globally and establish credibility through substantive expertise, collaborative working style and facilitator mindset.In addition to the foregoing, the Senior Counsel will have specific responsibilities as follows:. Serve as global Compliance counsel regarding Economic Sanctions.. Support the General Counsel, Product Lines by providing general legal advice.. Maintain and update the global Economic Sanctions policies, procedures and practices, including continuous review and updates on screening procedures.. Update as relevant all training materials on Economic Sanctions and all related policies; and design and provide training on same globally at appropriate time intervals.. Remain current on legislation and proposed regulations as to Economic Sanctions and Anti-Boycott Laws.. Provide responsive and timely advice and guidance on commercial issues related to Economic Sanctions and Anti-Boycott compliance.. Administer OFAC licensing requirements and develop positive relations with OFAC regulators.. Provide general corporate legal support, including contract review, corporate entity management and other matters as appropriate.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:The Senior Counsel will be a qualified attorney in good standing, with at least ten (10) years of experience practicing law, with the majority of such experience in a compliance-focused role specifically relevant to matters of Economic Sanctions, Anti-Boycott, and OFAC regulations. Some of such experience will have been in trading environments.PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:The Senior Counsel will be an accessible, responsive attorney who is also naturally proactive. He or she will be business-oriented, and be comfortable evaluating risk in connection with trading activities. S/He will have excellent judgment and agility in assessing new situations. The Senior Counsel will be a person who is able to gain credibility quickly based on a collaborative, solutions-oriented style and substantive expertise.
