Senior Food Scientist (Caldwell, ID)

We currently have a position available at our Tech Center in Caldwell, ID.
Caldwell boasts great community events, many outdoor recreational activities, and several wineries. SUMMARYThis position is a technical position performing basic and applied research. Plans and executes new product and technology development, and improvements to existing products and processes within the Food Group, including cost reduction projects. Coordinates the efforts of project team members, including food scientists, technologists, technicians, and project team members outside R&D, in the development of new products and processes. Responsible for identifying known and emerging technologies outside of the JR Simplot Company, assessing, and integrating them into the companys current and future products and processes. Interfaces with sales, marketing, operations and quality in making and fostering technical relationships with the companys current and potential customers. RESPONSIBILITIES* Supervises and develop Research Technicians and/or Technologists.* Directs and guides peers and subordinate employees in the execution of technical projects, including new products, processes, and cost reductions. * Responsible for providing input to administrative processes such as planning and budgeting. * Plans and executes the development and technical implementation of projects within existing product categories and individual new products and processes. * Responsible for technical project management and communications with project team members. * Responsible for assisting marketing and sales in developing customer knowledge and meeting the technical needs of our customers. Provides technical assistance to internal and external customers. * Responsible for providing technical innovation and improvement to the company.
REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor's Degree from 4 year college or university* Bachelors degree (B.S.) and 6 – 8 years of research/culinary experience or MS/PhD and 3-5 years research/culinary. * Projects will involve breadth and depth across multiple product categories & platforms and multiple scientific disciplines. * Certifications: IFT Professional Food Scientist, Six Sigma, Culinary or Project Management certifications preferred.
