Where the Chemistry Happens? SeniorLab Technician ? Beachwood, OH (1901437) The Sr.Lab Technician will be a member of the chemical catalyst R&D group at theBeachwood site in Beachwood, OH. TheChemical catalyst R&D group at the Beachwood site conducts research,scale-up and manufacturing support for catalyst formulations to be processed inthe variety of global manufacturing facilities or tollers with the result ofcatalysts that can be used in chemical processes. MajorResponsibilities: Independentlyoperate a wide variety of lab and pilot plant equipment.Preparationof samples from raw materials and establish new synthesis procedures.Performcalibrations of lab and pilot equipment and minor maintenance as needed,consulting with vendors for guidance to resolve difficult issues.Keepall records and logs current and accurate.Requireddaily housekeeping of work area including proper storage and management ofsample inventory.Provideclearly written experimental observations and results for technical reports ina Lab Notebook to be maintained daily.Assistsupervisor to provide data, prepare final reports and documentation required toco-author technical documents and patents.Analyzesamples for physical and chemical characteristics and communicate the dailyresults and summary to the supervisorProcurementof raw materials and minor equipment.Participatein the technology transfer of existing processes and introduction of newproducts to various BASF production plants.Makedaily contact with analytical group, and R&D personnel in the group.Contactoutside vendors, marketing and sales people to exchange information as needed.UpdateStandard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and train operators on pilot plantequipment.Musthave the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures and operatingmanuals. Ableto write reports and correspondence and to speak effectivelyAbleto safely operate, maintain and perform minor repairs and make properadjustments on associated equipment in work areas. Ableto maintain a good working relationship with other personnel and managementpersonnel. Ableto understand and respond to environmental and personnel hazards promptlyThisposition must be able to properly wear all necessary Personal ProtectiveEquipment (PPE). Ableto perform a variety of physical tasks involving transport and transfer of 55-gallondrums, 5 gallon pails, and lesser quantities of chemicals. Ableto solve a variety of mathematical problems including accurate calculations forscale up work and variation in chemical componentsAbleto interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, orschedule form.Theindividual will be expected to be self-motivated and able to work on multipleprojects CreateYour Own Chemistry: What We Offer You? Basic Qualifications: BSin Chemistry or related sciences with no industrial experience, or Associatedegree in Chemistry or related sciences with a minimum of 5 years? experiencein catalyst manufacturing or pilot plant operation or High school diploma orGED with equivalent combination of education and experience1year of working experience with Microsoft Office software Preferred Qualifications: Previousexperiences in handling and working with chemicals in the lab and pilot plantis preferred. Previousexperience with basic machine troubleshooting is preferred.
