Senior Manager Accounting Standards Implementation – Global Finance (Boise, ID)

We currently have a Senior Manager Accounting Standards Implementation position available at our global headquarters in Boise, ID.SUMMARYThis role will lead the global efforts over the next 18-24 months associated with the implementation of two new accounting standards – Revenue Recognition and Lease Accounting. These implementation projects impact all operating groups and many functions across the global organization including legal, sales, operations, supply chain, IT, tax, business partnering, internal audit and the controllership. The primary functions of this role are to be the subject matter expert from a technical accounting standpoint working with diverse functions across the global organization ensuring the new accounting requirements are being achieved in the required timeframe while minimizing risk and ensuring internal controls and supporting the project management associated with these implementation projects.RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyzes multiple and diverse sources of information to define problems accurately before moving to solutions; uses and disciplined and time-sensitive approach to analysis; takes advantage of problem solving tools when applicable; looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at first answers. (20%)Persuasively presents suggestions or ideas to business managers, internal or external; utilizes specific techniques for establishing rapport and gaining commitment; delivers well received presentations of cost, benefits, risks and other considerations; determines the decision-making style of the individual or group being influenced; achieves influencing impact even when holding a position contrary to the majority. (20%)Develops and implements enterprise-wide accounting practices; Designs and adapts GAAP concepts and architecture to support organizational strategies; Establishes industry best practices for new accounting methods, tools and techniques; Leads in designing and implementing GAAP policies and procedures; Directs the application of GAAP for unique or controversial circumstances; Leads discussions on improving effectiveness of accounting practices within the organization. (20%)Knows how businesses work and how organizations make money; keeps up with current and possible future policies, practices and trends in the organization, with the competition, and in the marketplace; uses knowledge of business drivers and how strategies and tactics play out in the market to guide actions. (10%)Implements and enhances internal controls in multiple and diverse environments; Designs and publishes forms used for internal control documentation; Re-engineers business processes for the sake of improving internal controls; Trains others in processes required for compliance with new internal controls; Assists external auditors in understanding specifics of organization's internal controls; Establishes corrective actions to be used in cases of financial irregularities or dishonesty. (10%)Performs or has performed actual work with some or all of the basic concepts and components related to global finance and accounting practices, international monetary systems and exchange rates, financial analysis and reporting, the international trade system and how to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. (10%)Under guidance, plans and estimates simple to complex projects; Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule and resource requirements; Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project; Provides input for GANTT or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status; Produces standard project status reports. (10%)REQUIREMENTSBachelors degree from a 4-year college or university.Masters degree preferred.CPA preferred.Eight to ten years related experience and/or training. Previous experience working on a global implementation of a new accounting standard in a large, diverse organization preferred. Adheres to all standards, policies and systems as appropriate.
