Founded in 1818, the company is headquartered in White Plains, New York.Overview:The Senior Project Manager will lead the safe design and construction of both Greenfield and existing facility projects for Bunge North America (BNA). The design and construction must align with strategic BNA initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Associated work will include management of in-house design in concert with engineering contractors for the successful completion of projects, utilizing a stage-gated approach. Incumbent will be responsible for managing all categories of project principles, including: Project Execution, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Risk, Information Management, Health-Safety-Environment, Quality, Staffing, and Operations.
Qualified candidates will coordinate with other corporate and Industrial Management (IM) entities in the aforementioned categories to manage a capital program that could exceed $50 M. Incumbent will interface with senior level stakeholders on a regular basis. Candidate will provide project management expertise with a general business acumen perspective to the business units while managing stakeholders across a diverse interface map.Essential Functions:Prepare and/or oversee the development of design and feasibility studies for projects at BNA or greenfield facilities using a steadfast stage-gated project management approachDevelop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and requiredPrepare and/or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants with direct reports, typically project managersReview equipment specification recommendations and prepare or review construction bid packagesPrepare and/or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project costAssist Project Managers in problem solving and trouble-shooting as requested by BNA facilities and IM senior managementPrepare and/or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activities summaries for the project management group under his/her span of controlWork with the business units to evaluate, plan and develop capital expenditure projectsEnsure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, cost and scheduleManage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibilitySupervise staff of Project Managers, Project Engineers and Construction Managers including assignment of work, approval of expenses, authorization for travel, goal setting, performance managementAssign engineering team and resources to projects to optimize resources and ensure required expertiseDevelop and maximize team member capabilities by fostering an environment that identifies talent, provides ongoing coaching and feedback and creates opportunities for growth and developmentProvide assistance to plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in added profit or cost savingsModel and cascade behaviors supporting BNA capabilities (Operational Excellence, People Management, Business Intelligence, Customer Satisfaction, Value Chain Integration and Risk Management).Communicate and model good business practices that support the companys core values.Required Competencies:Leadership: Demonstrates the ability to motivate, energize, align and promote change in others related to a common purpose and objectives.Visioning and Alignment: Engages others by communicating a picture of future possibilities and shared purpose to work collectively toward common objectivesStrategic Thinking: Analyzes and applies a broad organizational and business perspective to identify and maintain focus on key drivers of organizational performance.Talent Management: Maximizes team member capabilities by identifying talent, providing ongoing coaching/mentoring and feedback, supporting opportunities for growth and development.Relationship Management: Builds trusting, productive relationships with internal/external customers, team members, colleagues and stakeholders through transparent, genuine, influential communications.Business Management: Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, improve and execute activities related to business operations.Organizational Perspective: Adopts a systemic perspective, defining and leveraging the ideas, resources and unique perspectives of Bunges diverse local and global groups.Change and Innovation: Actively supports exploration of new ideas, calculated risk-taking and choices/initiatives that can make a significant impact.Performance and Results Orientation: Maintains focus on key performance drivers, continuously improves processes, and consistently delivers results.Required Education/Skills/Experience:Bachelors degree in engineering required; Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Agricultural related engineering field.A combination of experience as outlined below in any of the following sectors is required: Milling, Oilseed Processing, Agriculture, Biofuels, Bio-Products, Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage, or Specialty Chemicals. Some agricultural processing experience is required.Project Management: Candidate must have experience developing Project Charters and Project Execution Plans for projects, and then executing against them in a stage gated project management model. Minimum 10 years of combined project management and construction experience required, including participating in multiple projects greater than $25 M TIC.Engineering: Candidate shall have minimum 5 years of experience managing engineering across multiple disciplines.Procurement: Candidate will be required to manage procurement staff throughout the project life cycle, from initial estimates through tender and final award. Familiarity with contract administration/review experience is essential.Project Controls: Candidate shall demonstrate ability to provide oversight in Scope, Cost, and Schedule control on all assigned projects.Risk: Candidate should have experience analyzing project risks and managing risk throughout the project. Formal training in risk management is a plus.Business and Commercial: Candidate must have experience working with commercial and business development teams to develop financial models for projects. Front end project development and appraisal experience required.Information Management: Candidate should have project experience with client portal/document management systems and/or collaboration application software.Health-Safety-Environment: Candidate shall have minimum 10 years of experience managing these key project categories directly or indirectly on projects. Asset-based experience and knowledge in NFPA 61 is a plus.Quality: Candidate must demonstrate a keen understanding of the intricacies of the Engineering
