Senior Purchasing Manager
The Sr Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing ag chem products, proprietary products, seed and fertilizer.?EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:? Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, 5 years purchasing experience in a related field and 2 years supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.?OTHER SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:?Good verbal and written communication skills.Good interpersonal skills.Computer skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package.Good analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to travel in cars and airplanes.Valid driver?s license?ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:?Directs business unit level purchasing activities by managing staff.Maximizes inventory efficiencies by directing transferring from various warehouse locations to sales locations.Develops policies and procedures regarding purchasing systems.Attends vendor meetings relating to special programs, prices, etc. and prepares information relating to purchasing, pricing, and special programs for Division Managers.Negotiates additional terms, consignment commitments, and/or other concessions from suppliers for the benefit of the company.Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports including completing annual purchase forecasts and monthly inventory goal and inventory turnover goal for business unit.Develops processes and communicates early order programs for Business Unit. This includes special programs as administered through the Region and/or Corporate office.Identifies consignment inventory, slow moving inventory, and zero sales inventory and disseminates to buyers for discussion with location staff to determine method of disposal.Negotiates freight rates with trucking companies to haul products to sales locations as needed throughout the year.?Supervises and directs coding for all freight invoices for Business unit and sales locations.Develops and delivers presentations and various sales and staff meetings.??????Manages the Business Unit distribution system in conjunction with Purchasing and Distribution Manager and Purchasing Manager Assistant, to assure optimum levels of supply while managing lowest cost of interest and freight transfer charges.Manages the allocation of limited resale materials through staff.Other work-related duties as assigned.Reliable and regular attendance is expected.?Resumes submitted without salary requirements will not be considered.
