Senior Research Associate, Microbiology (MS/BS)

Leads or actively participates in a number of projects and ensures that the highest quality of the work is achieved. Conducts diverse set of molecular biological tasks utilizing sophisticated methodologies and procedures requiring precision, coordination,attention to detail and adherence to established protocols. This position ensures that sample processing schedules are well organized and reasonable to meet project timelines. Duties & Responsibilities:
Actively participates in a number of discovery projects in isolating, identifying, and cultivating new microbes Performs different kinds of DNA extraction and quantitation from environmental samples Constructs and analyses libraries utilizing PCR, gel electrophoresis and DNA purification/quantitation Plans workflow to meet timelines and tracks progress Performs different kinds tests for optimization of the cultures, screening for media and other parameters for cultivation, purifying and archiving for both working and microbial collection purposes Maintains, organizes and compiles data in reports communicated to manager Communicates effectively as a team member both within the group as well as with other departments Other Duties
As needed participate in field work collecting soil or plant samples Determine how to organize work schedule to meet project deadlines Determine appropriate course of action when experiments fail and impact timelines Decision Making
Determine priority of work activities in order to meet deadlines Determine whether amplicon libraries meet quality specificationQualifications:Education: MS or BS degree in molecular biology, microbiology or related discipline and 2-4 years industry related experience. Experience & Competencies: Possesses firm understanding of fundamental basis of next-gen of molecular and microbiology technologies, computer programing and automationAt least 4 years experience in molecular biology, computer programming or automationKnowledge of current scientific literature related to microbial ecology and cultivationDemonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
