Senior Research Associate, Prediction Agriculture
Establish and develop Prediction Agriculture infrastructure and technical capabilities as a core function of an Incubator Research Station. Accountable for development and correct use of all relevant experimental protocols to generate advanced data sets required to achieve prediction agriculture priorities. Design, execute and manage the daily deployment of operational, labor and equipment resources to obtain complex environmental, phenotypic and sensor data from field and controlled environment experiments. Conduct advanced phenotypic measurements on genotype, environment and management treatments at a series of complex field experiments conducted across multiple locations and years to enable the development and deployment of prediction agriculture methodologies. Work as a core member of a multi-location research team to deploy team resources across locations and times to collect the critical data required to translate complex prediction research goals into actionable experimental plans. Responsible for managing daily use of team resources to ensure critical data collection, data quality control, data management, data analysis and data interpretation support for all experiments. Plan experiments in consultation with the Incubator Team Leader and other relevant team members. Ensures all experimental requirements are clearly defined within experimental protocols. (20%)Conduct experiments using protocols to lead data collection teams comprising of research associates, research assistants and temporary labor. Adapts procedures as required. (30%)Execute and oversee all processes from experiment creation to harvest. Updating protocols as needed during the season, communicating any protocol changes to all team members and maintaining records of data collection activities. (10%)Interact with members of the data sciences group to develop methods of data collection specific to experiments conducted for prediction agriculture. (10%)Ensure all required workplace and data collection training is completed by team members. Maintains or improves efficient daily work place operations. (10%)Summarizes experiments, manages and analyzes data and prepares reports. (10%)Supervises and coordinates resources deployment for experiments with other locations. (10%)Other duties:May recruit, hire, orient, supervise and evaluate employee performance.May organize and supervise work of other employees.May serve on teams appropriate to specific research project.May travel to other locations in N.A. or internationally to support data collection.Qualifications:Master's degree in an agriculture or scientific related field plus a minimum of 2 to 4 years of industry relevant research experience is required. Familiarity with computers, experimental design principles and statistical analysis. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to operate and troubleshoot electronic devices such as those used for agriculture data collection (for instance proximal and remote sensing). GIS skills desirable.Apply for this job.
