The team partners with various therapeutic areas to understand the immunological basis of chronic inflammation, infectious/non-infectious disease and host-pathogen interactions in order to identify therapeutic targets and substrates for companion animals (canine, feline and equine) and livestock (cattle, swine and poultry).Responsibilities:*Design and execute in vitro and in vivo studies with an emphasis on modulation of the immune system using novel bio-therapeutic or pharmaceutical approaches*Define immunological pathways triggered during host-pathogen interactions (working closely systems biologists, bioinformaticians and clinical) and their utilization as either intervention points or as biomarkers of efficacy/safety*Provide immunological expertise to a variety of project teams in immune mechanisms (innate and acquired) that can be manipulated to provide immunomodulatory therapiesBasic Qualifications:Suitable candidates will have a PhD in Immunology, with 0 -3 years research experience either in industry or academia. They must also be a creative/independent thinker with a proven track record of research in innate and adaptive immunology and with peer reviewed publications in high quality journals.Skill sets:*Broad knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology, including expertise in humoral immunology, host-pathogen interaction, and immunology of inflammation,*Experience in identification of innate immune mechanisms of inflammatory, autoimmune and infectious/non-infectious diseases*Experience in defining immunological pathways triggered during host-pathogen interactions and potential application as either therapeutic targets or biomarkers of efficacy/safety*Experience in designing/running in vivo models or studies in target species and interpretation of immunological data*Strong practical expertise in a range of immunological techniques (in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro) including cell culture (primary and cell lines), antibody and cytokine ELISAs, ELISpots, flow cytometry and use of reporter cell assays*Ability to work in collaborative research environment, including internal partner groups, contract research organizations and external academic collaborations.Apply for this job.
