This position will require a highly motivated and independent leader who can effectively collaborate across organizational lines to advance projects. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for providing Sample Logistics oversight and management support for small molecules, large molecules and study biospecimens as well as improving current practices in this area using automation and process changes.
Responsibilities * Use Watson LIMS and other inventory management tools in both discovery and GLP/GCP environments. * Use laboratory automation and informatics systems in support of small molecule, large molecule, and biospecimen inventory as well as study supply provisioning required to meet the objectives of primary pharmacology, PK, and biomarker efficacy testing.
* Manage and instruct others in sample management procedures and use of associated automation/informatics tools. * Work collaboratively and be flexible and adaptable in working across many scientific areas simultaneously, with rapidly changing projects and situations. * Be familiar with a diverse array of robotics and software used for handling small molecule, large molecule and biofluid samples and possess the ability to match automation/informatics technology with various needs. * Analyze and improve process workflows for sample logistic activities. * Operate in a highly-matrixed environment and convey scientific and technical information to a diverse audience, including management, both within and outside the R&D group. * Lead and implement change related to best practices for sample logistics and inventory management across multi-disciplinary groups. Minimum Qualifications * BS or MS in biology, chemistry or related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues representing a broad cross-section of the drug research and development pipeline. * Proficiency with inventory management processes and software (LIMS) and basic use of laboratory automation for sample logistics. * Experience working in GLP/GCP environments. * Experience in reviewing/influencing clinical study protocols, especially with respect to sample collection and tracking strategies. * Practical experience with small molecules, large molecules and/or biospecimen sample logistics as well as working with project teams to meet needs by employing inventory management systems and automation tools. * Experience in process improvement and implementation of automation and data technologies such as both automated and manual storage and retrieval systems. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Desirable Skills * Experience in technologies that can be used for efficient sample management.
* Working knowledge of Watson LIMS, Hamilton TekCel/Microlab STAR, Scinomix Labeler, and/or other inventory management systems and tools. * Demonstrated management of resources including FTEs or contractors. * Ability to work with external key opinion leaders in technologies.
