Senior Statistical Scientist – #01D39
Monsanto is seeking a leader in statistical analytics to collaborate on multidisciplinary teams responsible for research and product development in the areas of chemistry, agronomy and molecular biology. The statistician will engage with scientists to influence key decisions across varied business initiatives. The successful candidate will adapt existing statistical theory and methodology to new applications, solve problems using non-conventional methods and develop new methods. In addition to a sound basis in traditional statistics and Bayesian analyses, knowledge of data mining and predictive analytics techniques are desired. The development of strong collaborative relationships and ability to communicate clearly are essential. The successful candidate will advance an awareness and utilization of statistical analytics throughout technology. Responsibilities include: ??? Provide technical leadership across the organization ??? Develop sound and innovative experiment designs for laboratory, greenhouse and field trial experiments ??? Conduct statistical analysis for complex experiment designs and modeling projects ??? Develop predictive models using agronomic, geospatial or other high-dimensional data ??? Present statistical findings in a clear and actionable format ??? Lead initiatives to identify and implement process improvements ??? Identify opportunities to advance efficient processes related to data collection and analysis ??? Leverage analytical solutions from other organizations to solve chemistry research problems. ??? Increase statistical awareness via training, computer applications, and technical papers ??? Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to optimize discovery and development strategies ??? Build collaborative networks within Monsanto and outside of Monsanto ??? Monitor advances in technical fields and implement advances as appropriate ??? Mentor junior statisticians and research staff ??? Influence leadership through impactful presentations Qualifications:Required Education & Skills/Experience: ??? Minimum of a Master???s degree in Statistics or related field with ten or more years of related experience ???OR- PhD in Statistics or related field with five or more years of experience. Related work experience would be in agronomy, biology, chemistry and/or breeding ??? Demonstrated technical expertise in experiment design across varied research settings ??? Experience in the following statistical techniques: linear and non-linear mixed modeling, experiment design, and statistical data mining ??? In-depth knowledge and extensive programming abilities in SAS and/or R ??? Desire and aptitude to develop R and Shiny programming skills ??? Effective communication and consulting skills across a culturally and academically diverse workforce ??? Strong desire and demonstrated success to train and develop others Desired Skills/Experience: ??? Experience in generalized linear mixed modeling, multivariate and non-parametric analysis, and process improvement methodologies ??? Experience with data bases, computer systems for data/report storage and retrieval ??? In-depth knowledge and extensive programming abilities in R ??? Knowledge of other language for programming and statistical applications (for example: Matlab or Python) ??? Experience with Bayesian statistics applications ???
