We currently have a SmartFarm Advisor position available at our facility in Burlington, CO.
SUMMARYThe role of the SmartFarm Advisor is to lead the sales effort of SmartFarm products and services. Provide data management, GIS, Agronomic and variable rate equipment, technical support to the SGS Crop Advisors and other support staff to maximize the Companys effort to capitalize on the potential of Digital Agriculture and agronomic data management. RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate and participate in customer and prospect sales calls individually or with Crop Advisors. Contact and follow through with customers who are interested in precision agriculture. 20%
Lead technical support of SGS Crop Advisors and support staff on Digital Agriculture initiatives and technologies. 15%
Master and support Precision Ag software programs.
This would include Simplot Advisor and any web based, mobile or standalone software utilized by SGS Crop Advisors regardless of platform.
This may include some beta testing of upcoming releases as well as providing feedback to the software provider. 15%
Responsible for spatial data creation and management including mapping field boundaries, making recommendations for management zones, generating variable rate prescription maps, yield analysis and various types of geo-spatial analysis 10%
Manage the field sampling and collection of all precision ag data, including EC/EM, RTK topography data, Remote Sensing (Satellite, Aerial, and other sensor types) as well as other data types being utilized. 10%
Maintain precision ag equipment and make recommendations to customers regarding equipment. Includes updating and troubleshooting equipment and related firmware. 10%
Initiate contact with key influencers such as equipment dealers, software vendors, and related support groups both internal and external. 10%
Knowledge of the design, management, collection and analysis of research plot data. 10%
REQUIREMENTS4 year college degree is required in agronomy, precision agriculture, or related field. Must have agronomic experience. Knowledge of ArcView, Spatial Analyst, and GIS highly desired, but not required. Position will require traveling up to 50% of the time. Strong computer background and skills required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to analyze information, solve problems and do so with minimum supervision required.
