Sr. Accountant in our Business Services Finance group. The Business Services Finance group is responsible for finance support of CHS? wholly-owned Hedging LLC, as well as several corporate functions.
The team prepares the monthly and quarterly financials for the supported business units and informs senior leaders on the results of operations and financial condition of the business or function. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be self-motivated, inquisitive, responsible, and detail-oriented.You will:Review transactions with varying degrees of complexity and prepare manual journal entries with proper support.Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports and communicate key drivers to management.Compile data and prepare reports in compliance of external regulatory reporting requirements.Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are properly resolved.Critically review and approve assigned account reconciliations.Assist in the activities related to annual external audits and interim work, as well as regulatory audits.Identify opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations through automation, data access, enhanced reporting and procedural adjustments.
Assist with development and implementation as needed.Ensure appropriate financial controls and procedures are maintained in accordance to GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and company policies.Support and backup the group?s Sr. Financial Analyst role.Work extended hours as needed to meet business needs.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business6 plus years of experience working with financial statement preparation and GL systemsKnowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Previous experience in:Excel utilizing pivot tables and functionsProcess improvement initiativesPreferred Qualifications: (desired)Master's degreeCPA or CMA certificationSAP systems experienceExperience with regulated environments such as SEC or CFTC
