This position will design and develop automated systems, equipment, and components for laboratory, production, and agricultural field environments. This person will own the entire process of design including developing requirements, evaluating and selecting components, creating schematics, working with internal and external assembly shops, testing, and supporting the design.The Senior Electrical Engineer will hold matrixed functional leadership and help drive standards and best practice across the electrical engineers for the Automation Engineering team. The person will also be researching new technology and components useful for Monsanto???s applications.This position will be located in Ankeny, IA with monthly travel to St. Louis. The right candidate may be located in St. Louis but then would require regular travel to Ankeny.Qualifications:Required Skills:B.S. or M.S. in Electrical EngineeringMinimum 10 years engineering experience requiredIndependent research of new technologies and recommendation of technical innovations in machine/system architecture, control methodologies and industrial/lab/field automationAllen Bradley PLC components (experience with other PLC brands a plus)Application of industry design and safety standards including UL508A, NFPA70E and the NECElectrical drafting software (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)Development of project documentation including Bills of Materials, project requirements, work/user instructions, risk analyses, safety documentation, functional specifications, and maintenance documentationSelection and direction of 3rd party firmsDesigning equipment for scaled production, support, and international releaseProviding leadership to project and functional design teamsWorking in a fast-paced R&D environment with a high degree of initiative and ownershipSeeking out collaborationLeading or working as part of a multi-disciplined engineering teamDigging in to understand and question the business and application needs to gain base knowledge on the needs and requirements for a system and how automation will affect the new processUtilizing that knowledge to discover new applications and opportunitiesSeeing the larger picture of a connected system including automation, data, and human interactionDesign and development of automated systems, equipment, and components for laboratory, production, and/or agricultural field environmentsApply for this job.
