Sr. Manager Applications
SUMMARY: This position primary responsibility is to oversee the streamlined operation of the IS International department and to ensure it aligns with the business objectives of the organization. This individual?s principal goals are to manage the business demand and technical environment for multiple countries and to ensure standards are followed. Results have a meaningful impact on the achievement of functional/business unit objectives. This position requires a high proficiency in leadership, problem solving, and ability to influence others. The Senior Manager will plan, coordinate, direct, and design operational activities of specific IS functional teams as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission- critical business operations. The Senior Manager will work closely with technology groups and upper management to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective solutions for all aspects of the organization. Responsible for analyzing the needs of customers and establishing priorities for system design and implementation. Understand and ensure compliance to IS standards and methodology. Recommend and develop plans for: solutions development and operations, hardware, software and equipment purchases, budget, and staffing. Negotiate and contract with consultants, technical personnel and vendors for services and products. Responsible for the personnel administration of IS resources both internal and external ? interview, hire and train employees, plan, assign and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees for performance, address complaints and resolve problems. Prepare reports and make formal and informal presentations to Tyson executive management. Must provide direction to vendors and stay current on the latest technologies of the systems supported by the organization to assist in the future planning of necessary IS initiatives. Responsible for overall quality of solutions supporting the business. Conduct feasibility studies to support buy verses build decisions. Design and implement training plans for team members as well as mentor their professional development.
Education: Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical area. Equivalent work experience may be acceptable.
Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology or related area. Communication Skills: Excellent customer facing and communication skills.
Understanding of Tyson processes and systems, Ability to manage multiple large projects, demonstrated leadership abilities including management, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to build consensus and establish strong working relationships with a wide range of people, excellent organization and planning skills, excellent negotiation skills, and strong conflict resolution skills. Supervisory: Lead team of 7-10 skilled professionals to accomplish ongoing objectives. Travel: Some travel may be required.
