Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting, the Sr. Accounting Manager, Retail Financial Reporting, will have oversight of the financial reporting and consolidation of the Nutrien Ag Solutions business. This role is a key team member in support of the Retail business.  The Sr. Manager will have a strong aptitude for accounting theory, including application and impact of new accounting standards, experience with assessing and setting up strong financial control environments to ensure SOX and Internal audit requirements are met and excellent communication skills both in interactions with all levels of management and in developing effective consolidation and reporting solutions.  This role is responsible for overseeing the day-today accounting and month-end close process, including monthly journal entries, preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements, analyzing financial statements and communicating results to management.  This role will also collaborate with systems development teams to ensure financial information is captured appropriately and ensuring compliance with tax, audit, capitalization and reporting. The position also manages the relationship with the Nutrien external reporting team and prepares schedules and commentary as required.  This role is also responsible for leading a team, with the potential for additional team members as the business grows. This role will need to provide education and support to the users of processes and related systems, including users of the reporting output.What you will do: Manage multiple finance processes and development of effective reporting for various audiencesCoordinate and manage internal and external reporting requirements for Nutrien Ag Solutions, including F/S results, disclosures, MD&A and supplemental information Manage month-end close process including the review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and oversee the general ledger setup and maintenance. Perform monthly consolidation of Nutrien’s Retail business unitInterface with FP&A as needed to ensure all financial reporting and results are accurate and completed timely and with proper supporting detailCan lead the change management required for the team as we implement a new ERP environmentWorking with cross functional groups, collaborate on the development of accounting policies to support continuous improvement of financial processesIdentify and implement best practices regarding execution of accounting policies and proceduresPartner with Technical Accounting to research emerging accounting and reporting issues to ensure company follows IFRSPromote and maintain an effective internal control environment in compliance with Nutrien’s Sox requirementsOversee operations of the department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met along with providing work direction and guidance to the staffEstablish and maintain fiscal files and records for transactions in accordance with record retention requirementsOther duties and projects as assigned. What you will bring:Accounting Designation (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA) preferred with 7-10 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience, preferably in a public companyExperience with and a strong background in IFRS & US GAAP standardsWorking knowledge with ERP systems, particularly PeopleSoft and SAPProficiency in Microsoft office productsStrong analytical skills, including experience in financial analysis and budgetingStrong team building skills, demonstrated ability to influence and customer service focusSelf-starter with a high energy level, demonstrated success in a fast-paced and deadline driven environmentExcellent oral & written communication, analytical, organizational, project management and leadership skills are a mustSolid analytical, problem solving and financial troubleshooting skillsAbility to quickly learn new systems, processes and procedures and adapt local practices to global standardsSound, professional judgmentSolution-oriented with demonstrated ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, peers, and team membersSelf-motivated, innovative, and forward-thinkingFlexibility to adapt to changing business needsPersistent, determined and resilient, with a very strong customer service orientationSubject matter expertise relevant accounting and financeStrong interpersonal skills, able to influence and promote cross functional collaborationLeadership: ensure staff have sufficient guidance and support to perform job duties effectively.
