These losses are prioritized to focus efforts on the largest/most critical opportunities. The Reliability Engineer (in full partnership with the operations team) develops a plan to eliminate or reduce the losses through root cause analysis. The Reliability Engineer is to manage risk to the achievement of an organization’s strategic objectives in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality and production. Some tools used by a Reliability Engineer to identify and reduce risk may include:PHA – Preliminary hazards analysisFMECA – Failure mode, affects and criticality analysisSFMEA – Simplified failure modes and effects analysisMI – Maintainability informationFTA – Fault tree analysisETA – Event tree analysisRCM – Reliability Centered MaintenanceThe Reliability Engineer will be involved in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets with a goal of assuring and/or improving reliability of current and future assets.Execute tasks in a manner that assures timely, economical, and safe completion in accordance with applicable codes and other requirements. Act as liaison with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering, coordinating the work of internal personnel when necessary, and controlling operating costs.Identify opportunities for technologies to be updated or better utilized in order to achieve production cost savings, improved through-put or product quality improvements. Develop specific, verifiable economic justifications for these projects with maintenance, engineers and other plant personnel.Assure that the Management of Change (MOC) system is followed to capture all changes made to plant processes or equipment.Essential Qualifications: A Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a Mechanical, Chemical or Mining Discipline is required along with a Minimum of 10 years combined professional experience in Reliability Engineering and Predictive Maintenance Technologies within heavy industry. Preferred Qualifications: Engineer must understand vibration monitoring, ultrasonic and thermal measuring technologies.Comprehensive knowledge of the specific areas of responsibility, including mechanical and electrical equipment, vessels and piping.Strong tactical and strategic thinking ability, able to develop and execute both short and long term plans.Current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to activities.Experience with CMMS systems and tracking of best practice maintenance activities.Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), preventive and predictive maintenance programs and standards.
