Statistical Geneticist – #01ELQ
Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated Statistical Geneticist to join a cross-functional Genome and Marker Analytics team in the Genome Information Sciences platform of the Molecular Breeding Technology Program. This team interacts collaboratively across breeding, biotechnology teams and IT teams to achieve the Molecular Breeding Technology Program???s goals. The Statistical Geneticist will apply computational and statistical methods to analyze large scale genetic, genotyping, & genomic data for an array of row and vegetable crops. This individual will play a key role in the optimization, development and implementation of new and existing technologies for high throughput genotyping. Additionally, he/she will contribute to experimental design and analysis of genotyping data quality.Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:PhD degree or completion of a PhD degree in the next 6 months in Statistics, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field of study.Expertise in molecular genetics methodology.A solid foundation in statistical theory and a strong interest in applied statistical analysis methodologies and proficiency with statistical software and programming languages.Proficiency with handling large datasets and minimal one scripting language (Perl, Python, Java, R) and experienced with Linux environment and command line tools.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts in language understandable by scientists from a variety of disciplines.Cloud Computing experience is preferredApply for this job.
