RelationshipsThe Storage Manager reports directly to the Malad Farm Manager and works with the whole Pacific Northwest team and other CSS Managers and corporate teams to effectively manage approximately 1,000 acres of potato seed annually. Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of this position is to efficiently manage the irrigation operations to ensure excellent customer and vendor satisfaction so the site is able to meet financial goals and objectives by: During potato shipping, this position has primary responsibilities in leading the load-out crew and shipment of potatoes:Lead load-out team of 6 to 14 employeesTroubleshoot and provide mechanical maintenance supervision to storage and shipping operationsMonitor potato quality and implement quality control standards as directed by Farm ManagerDirect third party freight operators through shipment process Provide operational and mechanical support for key potato production operations, especially the following:Lead potato storage operations, maintenance, and cleaning throughout the yearLead seed handling and seed cutting operations during the spring planting seasonLead the potato grading and storage filling operations during the fall harvest seasonMonitor potato bruise-free handling program during harvest and shippingMonitor potato storages during the winter storage season Storage Responsibilities and DutiesMaintain potato storage facility in order to obtain highest possible quality and lowest amount of shrink on crop productionMonitor all aspects of mechanical and computer control panelsAnalyze storage control data and make decisions to maximize crop quantity and quality with help of Farm Manager and Agronomist Year-long Responsibilities and DutiesMaintain contact with outside groups including other farms, irrigation companies and associated industriesProvide, in conjunction with the Farm Manager, yearly and long-range planning to meet cost, quality, and service objectivesAssist in managing various staff during storage harvestBe willing to help other farm functions when not working on storage maintenance during winter months Required Position QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of one year experience in the fieldDemonstrated strong work-ethic, outstanding leadership ability and exceptional interpersonal skillsSelf-directed individual who leads projects to identify and implement solutions with team inputAdaptability to changing situations and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with multiple prioritiesProficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and a general aptitude with software systemsExcellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to train and work with operational personnel on the farmSuperior organizational and project management skillsAbility to acquire and hold a valid US driver s license and successfully pass vehicle insurance verificationEligible to work unrestricted in the U.S. without company sponsorshipAbility to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English and interact with all levels of the organization. Preferred Position QualificationsExperience in logistics, distribution and crop storageBachelors of Science degree in an Ag related fieldBilingual in English/Spanish5+ years experience managing storage/warehouse programs over a large geographic region as well as ability to travel up to 30% of work time CompensationSalary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
