Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead a civil service career in the Federal Government.?ResponsibilitiesThe duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.Performs varied assignments designed to provide on-the-job training and experience in activities conducted by Animal Care.Performs animal technician work with a highly technical Biologist or Curator whose duties consist of performing inspections to determine the physical and psychological well-being of animals covered by the Animal Welfare Act (AWA).Observes and performs routine inspections on reptiles and exotic animals, including lions, tigers, and bears, elephants, and primates that are owned by or in the custody of the National Zoo to assure compliance with provisions of the AWA.??Travel RequiredNot required?Supervisory statusNo?Promotion Potential5Apply for this job.
