Superintendent ? Isolate DepartmentSoy Protein Complex (East Plant)Decatur, IL.The Isolate Superintendent is a highly visible position within ADM?s growing Nutrition Division. Our East Plant?s Soy Protein Complex produces numerous soy based high protein food products and is an industry leader in our field.
The four Functional and Isolate protein plants located within our protein complex are significant contributors to the success of our soy protein product line.Summary:The Isolate Superintendent is responsible for many of the day-to-day activities as well as long-term vision and planning for two isolate plants and two functional concentrate plants within East Soy Complex. The Isolate Superintendent may have 35-40 salaried and hourly direct reports within a fast paced environment. Management of a process department requires effective leadership, communication, and self-motivation as well as an understanding of all pertinent aspects of safety, food safety, quality, production, plant goals, cost management, and colleague development.Essential Functions: Ensures daily the safety of all operations colleagues through: Encouraging colleagues to work safely with environmental awareness and good manufacturing practices in mind.Compliance with occupational safety and health standards and regulations.Recommendations for improvements to company facilities, equipment, and safety programs.Develops and executes vision for long term improvement and sustainability of the department.Interacts directly with plant leadership to develop desired operational results and colleague development.Coordinates operation of the production areas in order to comply with established safety, quality, and environmental standards set by the organization.Establishes area goals and key performance indicators in addition to providing consistent and immediate feedback on such metrics.Serves as the primary contact for operations, production, and maintenance planning for the process departments.Develops cost savings, process improvement, and facility projects to further optimize and improve the department and facility.Leads in the development of area optimization projects through generating MOCs and AFEs.Utilize experience, good judgment, and effective planning to accomplish goals, implement operational procedures and training, and enforce company plans, policies and rules.Mentors, coaches, and motivates all department colleagues in addition to assessing modifications and developments needed for training programs.Manage and support the Performance Excellence system to leverage pillars for maximum benefit.Oversees training and development of colleagues in the Performance Excellence SystemLeads colleague coaching and accountability efforts within the department.Assist in the hiring process including interviewing external new hire candidates.Additional duties as assigned.Job Requirements: ? Minimum of Bachelor?s degree or equivalent level of experience? Minimum of five years production and supervisory experience? Demonstrated strong commitment and leadership in plant safety and environmental programs? Demonstrated ability to manage a food process facility, employing GMP, ISO, FSSC/HACCP? Strong leadership, management, communication ,and interpersonal skills? Demonstrated advanced problem solving and conflict resolution skills? Technical competence in manufacturing work flows, basic manufacturing equipment, and process control systems.? Ability to track and drive performance using strategic metrics?Proficient computer skills?Ability to effectively manage time for optimal results with minimal supervision?Able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, meet deadlines, and strive for continuous improvement and high expectation of direct reports. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, periods of standing and sitting, working from heights; bending, kneeling, and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
