Supply Chain Specialist
POSITION TITLE: Supply Chain Specialist POSITION LOCATION: Salinas, California POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION: Reports to the Logistics Supervisor CLASSIFICATION: Exempt PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Maintaining a sufficient inventory position that ensures timely delivery of high-quality product according to the sales budget, with an efficient procurement process and minimizing inventory write offs. Summary of responsibilities: 1. Inventory management.2. Purchase planning.3. Imports and Exports4. Quality Control5. Other duties as assigned. Brief description of responsibilities and duties: 1. Inventory ManagementCompare and scrutinize monthly existing and estimated future inventory levels relating to the updated forecasts, bookings/contracts and pending sales orders, while minimizing inventory write offs. Monthly review of quality status of all current inventory and recommend destroy or credit of inventory.Create and coordinate all milling, packaging and seed enhancement process assignments in the ERP system and through 3rd party vendors as necessary. Allocation of seed lots to customer orders. 2. Purchase PlanningTimely placement of intercompany transfer orders ensuring inventory is available to meet forecasted sales.Work closely with Customer Service and Sales departments to prepare weekly spot order purchases. Keep accurate records of transfer receiving’s and ensure all documents are forwarded to the Finance department in a timely manner. 3. Imports and ExportsEnsure documentation of transfer orders are meeting Import requirements before shipment to US.Monitor status of all outstanding transfer orders and follow up as necessary.Coordinate with Broker agents for a smooth process of every import process.Ensure inventory is properly received and released for internal customers for processing.Monitor and coordinate export processing for our internal customers as well as external.Execute export documentation requirements for shipments of goods originating in the US to destinations globally.Ensure all documentation meets export compliance regulations.Arrange details of shipments with forwarders, carriers as necessary for exports. 4. Quality ControlMonthly preparation of germination update report to ensure germ information remains current.Ensure that all lot quality information is entered into the ERP system and readily visible to other departments requiring the information. Ensure that all QA documentation and certification is stored in a timely manner and easily accessible for other departments requiring the information. Other duties as assigned.Perform Key User duties as it pertains to ERP system functions.Provide timely and accurate information to incoming requests from internal customers, such as product information and availability. Coordinate with Customer Service, Warehousing, Accounting and Sales departments to ensure the smooth handling of customer orders.Other duties as assigned JOB PROFILE: Education/knowledgeBachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred.5+ years of relevant work experience preferred.Knowledge of import and export standard regulations for domestic and international protocols. SkillsProfessional, assertive and clear communicative skills (verbal and written), including active listening skills. Capable of working with the forecast and planning software system.Must be fluent in English speaking and writing. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Prior experience and working knowledge of seed industry desirable but not required.
