SUMMARY: This position works with all departments to develop and enhance a culture of consistent safe behavior. This Individual will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations for the entire facility including but not limited to: SARA Title III, air emissions, wastewater, hazardous waste disposal and reduction, underground and above ground storage tank management, asbestos and PCB management. This position serves as a subject expert to ensure compliance with safety & environmental standards. In addition, this person must observe, track, and complete activities with employees, to reduce and eliminate work related injuries and accidents to support our safety, environmental andsustainability goals. This person must maintain comprehensive filing system for documents pertaining to compliance with OSHA, and Food Defense programs as well as oversee contract Security Services at facility. Specific Responsibilities include: Ensure Compliance with OSHA standards. Direct environmental compliance programs related to hazardous wastes, air permitting, water pollution control, and community right-to-know programs; Manage the plants on-site waste water treatment facility and supervise plant staff; Provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state, and federal compliance regulations; Conduct proactive, action based programs to reduce or eliminate work related accidents or injuries; Develop and facilitate all safety related training; Adhere to all Food safety and Quality policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity; Assists with and train supervisors on proper accident investigations for all work related injuries and provide reports to location management; Performs all job site analysis, determine employee exposure, and assist in developing safe work policies, procedures and inspection report forms; Performs new hire safety training; Coordinates tow motorlicensing with supervisors; Collects and monitors safety work orders; Publishes safety audit tracking form which includes audits, cross audits, audits done with hourly employees, positive reinforcement, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions; Maintains and updates all safety records such as: injuries, illnesses, safety statistics, tow motor licensing, using spreadsheets, graphs, charts and presentations as required and all other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field, 2 years leading safety programs in industrial setting, preferred. Safety Professional Certification, preferred.Experience: 3+ years EHS or engineering, Environmental Sciences or related field is preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, must have 4+ years as safety leadership or safety professional preferred. Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required.Communication Skills: Effective verbal & writing skills to present ideas and concepts to diverse audiences from front-line to plant leadership levelSpecial Skills: Strong knowledge and experience w/leading Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, PSM, Waste/Storm Water Prevention, Waste Management (Hazardous and Non-Hazardous); High volume of state or local environmental experience to ensure reporting and response to local agencies are met and business interest are protected; Strong problem solving skills, data driven with and affinity for data management; and must be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.Travel: 1-5 trips per year.To view a full job description and submit your resume for consideration, click APPLY TO THIS POSITION below and follow the prompts.Apply for this job.
