SUMMARY: The Waste Water Treatment Supervisor is accountable for compliance with all federal, state and local environmental regulations including but not limited to Industrial Permitting from City of Traverse City, State of Michigan DEQ, USEPA, and Agricultural Use Approval Permit. Candidate must have the ability to successfully sustain good operational order of the WWTP, maintaining facility efficiency to remain compliant with all operating permits. REQUIREMENTS: All job offers are based on the conditions that the candidate can provide proof of authorization to work legally in the United States and pass a urinalysis screening, which is part of the post-offer health assessment. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age. Must be flexible with working hours and available for overtime when needed. One must be on call 24 hours/day for potential emergencies. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required. While performing the duties ofthis position, the employee will be required to climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities
by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Education: Associates Degree or higher in Water and Wastewater Technology, Environmental Engineering/Management, Biology, Chemistry, or other related field. Minimal license and certification requirements include a Michigan Waste Treatment Plant Operators Industrial/Commercial Certification C-3a, a Municipal Waste Water D License and a Michigan DEQ S-5 drinking water operator's license for non-community water supplies, higher classification license(s) are acceptable. Qualified candidates will be allowed up to one calendar year to complete the testing requirements and successfully acquire all licenses and certifications.Computer Skills: Highlevel of competency with Microsoft based software.Communication Skills: Must have ability to work fairly autonomously given specific departmental based objectives and strategies. Requires good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work independently, and must be results oriented. Ability to read and interpret documents, piping and instrumentation drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and operating procedure manuals.
