Summary/Purpose of Position:At United Animal Health, we come together to develop leading animal nutrition and health solutions for our clients here and abroad. Located just north of Indianapolis, Indiana, primary intent of this position is to support the United Animal Health (UAH) business units through creative design and execution of research, purposed to achieve their research priorities. The Associate Scientist is responsible for the collection, analysis, and processing of all data as it relates to nutrition, performance, and feed procurement, plus provide support to the sales function and customers in the form of technical services. Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties, but not limited to the following: Develop research trials: responsible for reading trends, defining problems and recommending solutions through designing and implementing studies.Develop and conduct entire major research projects.Contribute actively to discussion of protocols, data, and project reports as a member of the Research Operations Team.Supervise and collaborate with UAH researchers, Product Management and external scientists to execute research projects.Analyze data related to nutrition, feed ingredients, and diets as they relate to growth, performance, and costs.Assist Strategic Account and Territory Managers in supporting customers, as neededAssist in the development of sales strategiesActively support and work alongside technical service team members on the education of sales leadership and team members regarding research outcomes and technology utilization.Develop and conduct internal and external technical presentations to support sales and technical service.Author marketing and scientific articles.Attend scientific meetings and make scientific presentations at such meetings In order to apply for this position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:Education Requirements:M.S. in Animal Science or related field or equivalent professional experience Skill & Knowledge Requirements:4 6 years professional experience in animal nutrition and animal research roles3 – 5 years professional experience in design of experiments and statistical analysis Physical Requirements:Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionallyAbility to work both in office and farm environment Specialized Job/Technical Knowledge:Knowledge of animal agricultural industry preferredExcellent knowledge of animal nutrition principlesKnowledge of design of experiments fundamentals, plus statistical analysis techniquesKnowledge of customer business success factors in order to provide meaningful technical servicesAbility to use Microsoft Office for presentation and statistical analysis purposes Non-Technical Skills and Abilities:Ability to progress in a rapidly growing and changing environment, passion to learn and handle new challenges.Able to function and work independently as well as a good team player.Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects at a given time.Ability to collaboratively with individuals from various functional areas.Excellent flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and job assignmentsWorking within a matrix organization and shared services environments10% international travel and 10% domestic travelAbility to work in a team environmentChampion of United Animal Health Culture Licenses/Certification/Other:Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
