Tarp Operator – Ocean Mist Farms
?SUMMARY?This entry level position will be responsible in assisting in the removal of trailer covers (tarps) from truck trailers in a safe, efficient and timely manner. ?This position is located in Castroville, California and reports to the Receiving & Cooling Manager. Weekly rotation work schedule will be Monday ? Saturday, with variable & overtime hours as needed to fulfill job responsibility; Sundays and holidays as required. While a rarity for this role, travel and seasonal relocation may be required to our remote facilities and surrounding areas.?SCOPE OF ROLE?Prepare and tarp arriving and incoming trucks/trailers, tarp weighs approximately 60 lbs (dry) ? 70 lbs (wet)Remove and fold tarps from arriving field trucks, fold tarps in under 10 minutes per truck and place on carton trailer or behind driver?s truckCoordinate movement of field trucksVisually inspect for potential damage to product and report to managerManually handle, position and transfer various product partial/full pallets (with or without out forklifts)Assist the driver untie loads by rolling up the tie-down straps and put away corner (v) boardsOther duties as assignedSKILLS, ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS?High school diploma or equivalent preferred; continuing work-related training, including forklift, safety and good agricultural practices may be required.2 years minimum experience in agriculture cooling, receiving and/or shipping is preferred. Forklift certified and experienced is preferred; able to correctly use the radio frequency hand held devices. Basic math and reading skills is required.Ability to work primarily outdoors in inclement weather in degrees from less than 32?F up to 90?F plus degrees.Ability to climb ladders and stairs, push and pull horizontally, bend, lift and lower, crouch, repetitively squat stoop, reach, and walk and other physical activities associated with an outdoor, cooler and field environment. Ability to lift 70 pounds without undue physical exertion.Apply for this job.
