Provides first line of response to address technical/process issues within the Process Team, and coordinates/ supports the engagement of the Technical Support organization as needed. Position Responsibilities * Supervises BPM personnel and operational needs. * Focus on Zoetis Core Beliefs while leading the operations and while developing colleagues within BPM * Provides leadership and support to maintain a safe and accident free environment. * Provides leadership and support to ensure BPM operates in a Lean manner. * Drives continuous improvement through active involvement, fostering colleague engagement, and application of Lean tools and principles. * Provides leadership and clear/concise communication inside and outside of BPM. * Ensures all group functions meet Corporate, APHIS, GMP, and EU quality aseptic standards and are in compliance with departmental SOPs. * Plans and implements short-range BPM schedules, policies and procedures consistent with strategic goals of Lincoln Ops.
* Reviews and approves operational changes for BPM * Supervises the development and training of BPM colleagues to enhance effectiveness and production efficiency, which leads to a high quality product. * Develops and reviews department operational objectives and individual goals with all personnel. Ensures objectives and goals are clearly understood by all department personnel, leads the training and development of all department colleagues. * Represents the department by attending and participating in meetings that impact BPM. * Maintains facilities and operations to ensure containment and protection of product and employees. * Investigate process excursions/deviations and production issues utilizing Right First Time (RFT) tools to ensure corrective actions are identified and implemented to eliminate the root cause of the problem. Investigate process excursions/deviations and production issues to ensure corrective actions are identified and implemented to eliminate the root cause of the problem, engaging Technical Support as appropriate. * Participate with Technical Support as the manufacturing role in the coordination, document preparation, and introduction of new production processes as well as site to site transfers to Biological Manufacturing. * Take the manufacturing lead in the introduction of new processes or modifications to existing processes as supported by Technical Support. * Review production data in order to identify opportunities for yield improvement. * Initiate & implement ideas to improve production process reliability from the standpoint of quality, safety & product cost. * Work with colleagues within as well as outside of BPM to improve process reliability, robustness, cost, and efficiency in filling, lyophilization, capping, pharmaceutical production and packaging. * Assist in the planning and implementation of capital, personnel, and operating budgets for BPM. * Assist with developing and implementing strategic plans for BPM consistent with strategic goals of the Company. * Assist with technical projects within areas of responsibility. * Takes the manufacturing lead role in the coordination, document preparation, and introduction of new production processes as well as site to site transfers to Biological Manufacturing. * Maintains state of the art competence on technological developments within area of responsibility and recommends equipment and/or process enhancements that will provide improved efficiencies, safety, and a competitive advantage.
Education and ExperienceRequired * B.A./B.S. in science related degree or a related technical field. * 2 – 4 years supervisor experience or 3 – 5 years lead level experience in a biological manufacturing environment.Preferred * M.A./M.S. in business or science related degree with 1 – 2 years” experience in biological manufacturing. * Prior management of 10+ employee operation.
