Technical Consultant- Companion Animal Business Unit

Our worldwide headquarters and research facilities are in Greenfield, Indiana.Responsibilities:Within the Elanco US Companion Animal Business Unit, the Technical Consultants function as Regional Consulting Veterinarian (RCV) for Companion Animals and serve as a field based companion animal veterinary technical anchor and provides support for all pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities as deemed appropriate for the department. ?Travel will be required on a regular basis for one on one customer interactions to support the Companion Animal Health (CAH) sales organization, for technical presentations to the customer base and/or for technical support veterinary meetings (including national, regional, state or local levels meetings). Additional support may be provided to other specialized teams in the CAH organization such as Corporate, Strategic, and National Accounts. Travel commitment will average 75%, but may be higher at times due to new product introductions or other special activities. Field veterinary staff will be integral in the technical support of current products as well as in support of the rollout of new products. Field staff may also assist with product technical training, as deemed appropriate by the CAH Training Manager. Each veterinarian will have responsibilities associated with the execution of the Academic Liaison Program within assigned Veterinary Colleges/Schools. Phone technical support will entail a minor component of the position and case work relative to the customer support aspects of adverse events will be limited. Key Objectives/Deliverables: Project an attitude of exceptional customer service in all aspects of job execution. Support the efforts of Sales and Marketing, as required, through travel with representatives and participation in launch teams, customer meetings and veterinary meetings, as assigned. Provide technical support for all products via telephone, direct customer interaction and through presentations to professional and pet owner audiences. Assist with and support all pertinent training programs for new hires in the CAH organization. Support the continued education of Sales representatives on the technical aspects of Elanco products and the effective use of scientific information. Cultivate and nurture strong working relationships with specialists, researchers, and other influential veterinarians important to Elanco CAH products. Assist with implementation and maintenance of the Academic Liaison Program. Participate in pre-launch and launch team activities as deemed appropriate, to insure timely execution of all activities assigned to the RCV team. Assist, if assigned, with the coordination and execution of the post-approval studies program to address critical data needsBasic Qualifications:?? ?Graduate of an AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) accredited veterinary program with the corresponding veterinary degree.Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.A minimum of 5 years experience as a practicing veterinarian in companion animal or mixed animal practice (companion animal focus) although consideration may also be given for experience in comparable industry role. The practice experience may be in private, corporate, and/or academic environments.Additional Skills/Preferences:?? ?Advanced degrees in veterinary medicine are a positive, as is additional high quality veterinary practice experience (referral practice, etc).A strong commitment to providing top quality customer support. Additional industry experience is desirable.Knowledge of companion animal veterinary products. A focus on providing exceptional support and customer service to veterinarians and their clients is mandatory. Basic knowledge of the Companion Animal Market and products available.Solid familiarity with various functions within veterinary practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent speaking and presentation skills. Keen planning skills and the ability to execute.Capacity to work in a field environment with minimal supervision and the ability to make decisions within the context of uncertainty and ambiguity.Skill in effectively conveying messages and motivating various audiences. Ability to positively influence people in such a way that others follow and act willingly.Strategic thinking.
