The Center for Growing Talent by PMA Program Manager
Exempt Position description: The Center for Growing Talent by PMA Program Manager is responsible for the delivery and expansion of current programs in support of the Center for Growing Talent by PMA’s attract, develop, and retain strategies. The emphasis in this position is on the attract strategy, including Career Pathways, the Awareness Campaign, career materials, and others as developed. Center for Growing Talent by PMA and PMA relationships: The Program Manager works under the direct supervision of the Center for Growing Talent by PMA Program Director and in partnership with the Center for Growing Talent by PMA VP of Talent Portfolio. This position works closely with PMA staff, including Member Value Creation and the Meetings/Trade Show staff, and consultants who work on a contracted basis, the Center for Growing Talent by PMA Board of Directors, Talent Development Taskforces, Career Ambassadors (industry mentors), university faculty, and other industry members. Position Responsibilities: Program Development (80%)Develops, executes, and manages the growth of the following projects:Career Pathways programs- (programs to attract new talent into the produce and floral industry)Manages appropriate student attraction programs from initial contacts through program execution, including microsite development and university and student relationships.Awareness CampaignUniversity OutreachVisits with Career Services, University Faculty, and StudentsCareer Ambassador Network – (comprised of industry volunteers invested in bringing new talent into the industry)Mentors for programsCareer Fairs (at universities)Classroom SpeakersOther programs as assigned 2. Analyzes and evaluates programs, processes, and expenses to ensure efficacy, efficiency and continued success of current programs and events which create and enrich partnerships with member companies, recruiters, trainers and other organizations. 3. Develop and manage the tracking of and follow up with past participants of the Career Pathways programs (alumni) and contributes insight and information for the attract/retention statistics 4. Ensures appropriate and timely program representation on Center for Growing Talent by PMA Website.Responsible for managing web content for Career Pathways programs and other attract initiatives as assigned. 5. Works with the strategy and operations leads in PMA Marketing department to collaborate on design, creation, and maintenance of promotional materials. 6. With the Program Director, engages in communications with industry volunteers, especially Career Ambassadors and the members of Talent Development Taskforces. 7. Provides input into the strategic direction for Center for Growing Talent by PMA programs. Relationship/Partnership Building and Maintenance (10%) 1. Builds and maintains positive, ongoing relationships with PMA staff, Center for Growing Talent by PMA contributors, PMA members, Talent Development Taskforce members and external organizations. 2. Informs Program Director, VP Talent Portfolio and Executive Director of issues that need attention and makes time-sensitive decisions for Center for Growing Talent by PMA. Administrative (5%) 1. Responsible for helping to keep the Center for Growing Talent by PMA programs top of mind for PMA staff at all applicable times and for seeking opportunities for enhanced communication, teamwork and collaboration between PMA and Center for Growing Talent by PMA. 2. Participates in PMA staff meetings/groups, as needed. Personal Development (5%) 1. Attends professional meetings, workshops, and seminars to expand personal and business competencies. 2. Maintains up-to-date knowledge on recruitment, career development programs, technology, as well as industry trends, issues, and affairs. 3. Demonstrates commitment to PMA culture and competencies. Measures of Success: 1. Steady growth of young talent entering the produce industry. 2. Steady growth of colleges and university faculty and career counselors requesting and using career materials. 3. Programs attain evaluation of at least 4 out of 5 on evaluations. 4. Communication of information among staff and volunteers is clear, appropriate, detailed and timely. 5. Meets deadlines for plan development and budget processes. 6. Effective management of assigned program expenses. 7. Meet or exceed assigned revenue goals. 8. Utilizes technological advances to execute programs. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in not-for-profit program development/management or related field.5 years experience in project development, planning and management.Knowledge or experience in college recruiting or Human Resources.Able to work independently as well as in a team setting; to meet deadlines; to demonstrate decisiveness and authority.Strong thinking skills and project management skills with an ability to execute quickly and accurately.Possess high degree of initiative and ability to work in a start up environment.Exceptional interpersonal, and presentation skills.Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office products.Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills.Flexibility and ability to work with tact in a variety of situations and people.A proactive, creative problem solver with strategic thinking skills.Works with minimal supervision.Fluency in Spanish a plus Travel requirements: Approximately 8-10 trips per year.
