Transportation Manager Job SummaryJackson Farming Company is a family owned business that has been in the produce industry for over 37 years. We grow, pack and distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to retail, food-service and government customers as well as grow corn, cotton, peanuts, rye, soybean, tobacco and wheat. As we continue to grow we are looking for a Transportation Manager to provide onsite supervision of all aspects of transportation from the farms in FL, GA, NC, VA and PA to our customers. Role and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the VP of Operations/Supply Chain, the Transportation Manager is responsible for the flow of product throughout the logistics supply chain with an emphasis on cost containment and on-time deliveries. Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all transportation functions to ensure that customer service is performed safely, on-time, and in accordance with specifications. Coordinates closely with customers and area personnel to obtain information, identify needs, and investigate and resolve problems. Seeks to continuously improve service. Ensures that the Company’s professional reputation is maintained, and that superior customer service is provided. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:Lead all transportation planning and strategic activitiesEnsure customer goods move from production through the supply chain to the end userEstablish quality transportation servicesEnsure on-time arrival performance and accurate, pro-active, timely communication with both shipping and receiving customersAssist with daily transportation arrangements and ensure that logistic service providers meet their contractual obligationsAssist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfactionDevelop partnerships with outside carriersNew carrier development with an emphasis in developing LTL coverage and DSD for local servicePlan and monitor budgets creating and implementing new transportation related services and solutions while reducing transportation and logistics costMonitor freight expenses and initiate plans to increase freight recoveryExpand distribution routes to consistently cover current/new customers and target areasWork with other departments to ensure smooth operations in meeting customer relationsEnsure accurate forecasting of volume projections to core carriersDisseminate monthly carrier scorecards and monitor overall performance against scorecard goals and expectationsResearch and resolve all product arrival disputes and truck claimsArrange for transfers to other warehouse locations to maintain optimal inventory to fulfill orders at lower possible costPerform other related duties as required or assigned Qualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience5+ years Logistics experience; fresh produce experience preferredSignificant understanding and experience with asset-based Fleets, Truck Brokering, dispatching within the Produce industrySolid negotiation skillsExceptional communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to influence outcomes and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExperience using metrics to measure and report progressStrong problem-solving skills are necessary along with the ability to display strong initiative, motivation and resourcefulnessSelf-motivated with ability to work independently and produce exceptional resultsOrganized and excellent attention to detailCritical thinker with excellent problem-solving skillsProject and goal oriented Job Type: Full-time Salary Salary: DOEEqual Employment Opportunity EmployerApply for this job.
