Transportation Services Manager

Furst-McNess Company is seeking a dynamic, assertive individual for the position Transportation Services Manager in Storm Lake, IA.  This individual will be responsible for routing and dispatching Company trucks as well as coordinating the use of outside carriers.Responsibilities:Participate in the selection, training and development of an effective and efficient staff of company truck drivers.Help establish and communicate performance standards and objectives to subordinates and conduct performance reviews.Monitor operations and staff and recommend changes in methods, procedures, equipment and structures, along with recommending additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources.Route trucks and assign drivers and equipment to provide customer service and maximize efficiency of the truck fleet and provide equity among drivers.Coordinate company and third party backhauls to maximize efficiencies of the truck fleet.Monitor driver performance for compliance with D.O.T. regulations and company policies & procedures.Monitor fleet performance for compliance with company objectives and guidelines.Monitor all truck and driver records to assure it is accurate and complete.Perform duties to assure compliance with all DOT, FDA, EPA and OSHA regulations.Responsible for coordinating all premix common carriers cross dock truck at all locations.Requirements: Business degree or the equivalent in related work experience; minimum of three years of Truck Fleet operations or related experience.Ability to comply with regulatory requirements imposed on trucking operations by DOT.Knowledge of computers with a working expertise of Microsoft Office and routing software such as Roadshow.Valid driver s license and excellent driving record is required.Benefits:Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.Comprehensive health, dental and vision plan.Paid vacation/floating holidays/company holidays.Competitive 401(k) program.About the Company: The Furst-McNess Company is an independent agricultural company providing customized vitamin and mineral premix, commodity blends, and feed ingredients to the beef, dairy, poultry and swine industry throughout the United States and Canada.
