BASICFUNCTIONThisposition is responsible for removing blemishes and/or foreign material from rawproduct and inspection table before raw product is sent to the processline.
TheTrimmer is a member of a team, which consists of other processing areaemployees that include operators, coordinators, attendants, sanitation workers,and team leaders.
This team is accountable to the shift manager andprocess area supervisor.
Theindividual in this position will perform the function of removing blemishes andall foreign material required for processing potato products.
Overtimerequirements in this position are common, and may be required in order to meetoperational goals.
Theindividual in this position will be required to fully understand the purposeand operation of the trim line and must have the ability to make decisionsbased on sound judgement when a situation dictates it.
It is imperativethe person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness andconstant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and itssurroundings.
Theindividual in this position must establish and maintain open communication anda productive working relationship with the Q.A. team members, Raw Receiving,Production, other Shift support personnel, and the Shift Manager. RESPONSBILITIES
Requiredto demonstrate correct trimming, halving, and inspection techniques
Requiredto remove major defects from raw product that are 3/16 of an inch or larger ata rate of 25 potatoes per minute.
ofraw product at all times.
Mustbe able to identify the different types of defects found on the trimtable.
These include but are not limited to: green, net, hollow heart,black rot, heat, bruise, scab, sugar ends, nematode, and wireworm.
Mustbe able to recognize and remove all foreign material.
Foreign material isdefined as anything that is not a potato, such as rocks, weeds, vines,etc.
Mustsanitize gloves and aprons upon returning to the trim table or inspectionareas.
Requiredto notify Trim Coordinator or Team Leader of any unsafe or unsanitary conditionsor machinery malfunction in the trim area.
Mustbe able to communicate with Trim Coordinator or Team Leader of raw productchanges, foreign material, machinery malfunctions and all other communicationthat is pertinent to the overall safety, food safety and smooth operation ofthe trim area.
Mustperform all duties assigned by Trim Coordinator, Team Leader orSupervisor.
Ensuresno injury to self or other by following safe work practices and policies.
Ensuresself-compliance with Company policies and procedures and Union Labor Agreement.
Ensuresthe interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in aparticipative management style conducive with operational and Divisionalstandards.
Ensuresattendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the positionand to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
Ensuresthat additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled ina manner necessary to perform the job function while representing the Company.
Conductsoneself in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets thestandards necessary to perform the job function and while representing theCompany.
