Responsible for the safe operation of semi-tractor trailers to transport goods to designated locations. Employee use strong customer service skills to build professional relationships with CGB customers. Essential Tasks:
Fully participates in the CGB Safety Program and attends daily pre-shift meetings. Complies with all OSHA and CGB Safety requirements including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed. Also complies with all Environmental regulations. Complies with all required ISO standards, where applicable. Operates vehicle in compliance with company rules and all applicable state and federal regulations. Pre and post inspection of vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order. Complete all required documentation related to the inspection. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Collects delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes. Maintains log of working hours in compliance with state and federal law requirements. Required to report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage in accordance with facility policy. Inspects and cleans all trailers and containers prior to the loading process. Ensures that truck is loaded to customer weight specifications without exceeding company rules and federal weight maximums. Secure cargo for transport using appropriate securing devise. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: CDL Class A license required. 2 years' experience, highly preferred Able to meet CGB Commercial Driver's insurance requirements. Able to meet all DOT requirements. Able to safely operate tractor/trailer in extreme weather conditions. Able to perform basic math e.g., add, subtract, multiply, divide. Able to complete documentation requirements. Able to follow direction and to use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems. Able to use tools appropriate for assigned task. Able to work well in both a team environment and independently Focused on exceptional customer service for both internal and external customers. Able to converse and discern necessary information from both customers and co-workers. Basic knowledge of computers and software, highly preferred Physical Requirements: Must hold current/valid DOT medical card. Able to meet DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements Able to lift/push/pull 45 lbs. occasionally. Able to climb, bend and twist occasionally Able to open truck hoppers, containers, and build bulkheads etc., where applicable. Able to sit constantly/continuously. Able to concentrate on task without becoming distracted, constantly/continuously Acutely aware of surroundings with ability to quickly adjust to a signal or change in environment. Able to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio. Able to understand and communicate written instructions. Able to work outside in extreme weather conditions. Able to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.
