Simplot Grower Solutions (SGS) Overview:

With over 100 retail locations and a full line of crop inputs, Simplot Grower Solutions is your one-stop resource for agricultural supplies and precision agronomy services. SUMMARYThis position is an experienced supervisor who is responsible for the entire operations, administrative, delivery, and warehouse functions of the Unit. Duties would include supervising all operational support services in the unit, including inventory management, budgeting, delivery, and records retention. Also directly, or through subordinate supervisors, supervises and trains all delivery, operations, administrative, and application staff and may supervise other unit staff. RESPONSIBILITIES* In conjunction with Group and Region Regulatory function, ensures company safety programs are implemented, maintained, and regulatory requirements are adhered to through direct actions or management oversight.* Assists the Unit Manager in preparing the budget for the area of responsibility. Supervises operations, equipment, and facility improvements. Supervises and trains operations, application, delivery and shipping/receiving staff. Ensures safety procedures are communicated and followed. Ensures training is conducted as needed for specific equipment or as seasonal product changes occur. Provides leadership in coordination with marketing area to ensure efficient operations.* Provides support to Unit Manager and Region Office in managing capital assets. Ensures that company facilities and assets are maintained, upgraded, and replaced when necessary to obtain maximum efficiency and profitability.* Prepares and monitors operational budgets and forecasts. Reviews operational expenses within the Unit. Evaluates labor, equipment, and inventory to meet operational needs of the Unit.* Coordinates, facilitates, and manages all operational functions across a multiple site, 15 million dollar plus Unit.* Supervises all office related functions to ensure appropriate receipt and record keeping of inventory, invoicing to customers, receipt of payments, and bill processing related to product and operational purchases.* Supervises all warehouse, delivery, and application related functions to ensure product availability, prompt delivery, and service.* Supervises service to walk-in customers, receives telephone orders form customers and Sales Representatives. Prepares product mix instruction sheets, Material Safety Data Sheets, and work orders.* Supervises the purchase of all products sold at the Unit and ensures adequate inventory to meet sales and delivery needs. Ensures appropriate receipt and record keeping for Unit inventory.* Assists the Unit Manager in forecasting inventory needs and preparing for unusual or unexpected inventory needs. REQUIREMENTSEducation:* Bachelor's Degree from 4 year college or universityOther information:Two plus years related experience and/or training. Advanced expertise relating to specific technological areas which could include some or all of the following: mechanical, equipment, record-keeping, specialized computer equipment and/or software packages, etc. Incumbents typically have some college experience and extensive experience in the industry. Experience within the Soilbuilder function is preferred. Skills: Demonstrated supervisory, planning, organization, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Proactive in providing customer service and support beyond typical operational needs. Analysis and problem-solving abilities to deal with out of the ordinary assignments. Must have advanced interaction skills and the ability to successfully deal with people from other units and regions. Many tasks and responsibilities of this position will require the incumbent to solve problems and develop improvements as they are needed, and without direction from superiors. As this position is frequently an interim step to a Unit Supervisor II position, some assignments and special projects will be much more general in nature, and will require the incumbent to do extensive research, gather information and ideas from people in other parts of the company, and develop these ideas and information into a workable system or program. Must be capable of performing complex assignments independently and through delegation of tasks to other staff members. Distinguishing Features: Works independently within broad guidelines. Incumbent uses job function, goals, and customer needs to set priorities. Assistance is available through direct supervisor, peers and other levels of management. Failure to set and monitor direction, complete assignments, provide leadership, and achieve goals and objectives will result in expense, regulatory concerns, customer dissatisfaction, employee turnover, loss of productivity of self and others, and lost opportunities. Reports to more senior levels of Management at a Unit. Through actions of self and direct reports, provides leadership, guidance, training and performance evaluation for a specific group of employees. Certificates: Incumbents will maintain any licenses or certifications applicable to particular job assignments (i.e. Commercial Drivers License, Dealer/Manager License).
