?UNIX System AdministratorThe corporate headquarters of Helena Chemical Company, a national, agricultural chemical company, has an immediate opening for a UNIX System Administrator in our IT Department.??Requirements:? Bachelor s degree in an IT related field from an accredited four-year college or university and five years experience in a large-scale systems environment with at least four years UNIX (AIX) systems administration and two years in PC networking.Requires thorough systems knowledge and experience relative to systems administration, working knowledge of Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2013 or higher, Symantic Anti-Virus, and Ethernet; requires knowledge of TCP/IP, FTP, DNS, NIS, Point to Point Protocol (PPP), and LPARS.? Good communication skills, good problem solving skills, ability to work both independently and as a team member, good customer service skills, ability to set priorities and work on multiple tasks. Experience with Oracle database and/or application a plus..??General responsibilities include:? Works with application teams & other IT department personnel to coordinate system software changes & support application changes.Understands critical processing cycles in detail (accounting month-end, invoicing & billing), & any other relevant processing cycles.Maintains DNS, NFS, DHCP, printing, mail, web, and FTP services for the enterprise.Responsible for maintaining integrity and security of the enterprise UNIX (Linux) servers and systems.Analyzes production and test system problems, determines causes, and takes timely corrective actions.Oversees administration of UNIX (Linux) operating system.? Recommends systems and programming standards & procedures including writing shell scripts or programs to automate and/or simplify the UNIX administration procedures.Recommends/implements security policies and standards and ensures adherence to procedures.Keeps accurate records of UNIX AIX (Linux) system failures & changes.Manages UNIX account maintenance including additions, changes, and removals.Research/recommends updates to software & hardware of UNIX (Linux) systems including upgrades to operation system and communicates to IT Management Group.Performs tape storage management/administration using Tivoli Storage Manager.Conducts preliminary studies for new projects related to machine utilization, capacity planning, and network topology.Establishes/maintains contact w/key vendors for maintenance & services.Monitors system performance and develops recommendations for correction or improvement.? Implements changes as appropriate with proper approval.Recognizes, identifies, & documents potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.Maintains a disaster recovery plan.?
