Monsanto is a world leader in Seeds & Traits and Agricultural Productivity solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our US States Regulatory Affairs team. The State team has a focus on ensuring ongoing freedom-to-operate (FTO) for existing products and business operations, and enabling new product launches in the US. As US States Regulatory Affairs Lead, the desired candidate will lead a team responsible for understanding US State regulatory requirements for Monsanto???s expanding portfolio of Ag Biotech traits, Biologicals (microbials, BioDirect), Agrochemicals and Lawn & Garden products, and for obtaining and maintaining State approvals in compliance with applicable State regulations. The lead and her/his team act as a critical cross-functional partner to colleagues in the US Business, Technology Development, Regulatory Affairs, State Government Affairs, and Regulatory Law. The US States Regulatory Affairs Lead and her/his team interface with regulators across the fifty US States, monitor policy developments in the field of State regulations, engage in industry associations, and develop and implement regulatory outreach strategies. This individual will direct the development and implementation of regulatory approval strategies in the States, and participate as a broadly thinking leader on the Global Chemistry and Seed Regulatory leadership team. The successful hire will motivate and lead a team of highly skilled State Regulatory Affairs Managers to develop and execute a robust approval and FTO strategy that meets local regulatory compliance standards, thereby enabling product testing, supply, and commercialization of Monsanto???s entire Seeds & Traits and Ag Productivity portfolio. This position is part of a fast-paced, timeline-driven, project-managed, team-oriented environment, where employees enjoy collaboration on group-based projects. As the direct-line manager for the people on the US State Regulatory Affairs team, this leader will attract, motivate, evaluate and develop talent, and help the individuals on his/her team maximize their contributions and personal development. Key responsibilities include: Inspire and lead a team of highly skilled Regulatory Affairs Managers, and help team members maximize their performance and potentialLead the team to develop and execute State submission plans that ensure timely product registrations and renewals in all 50 States, in alignment with business plansGuide the team in the preparation of well-organized, scientifically and legally defensible State regulatory submissions, and be willing to help where needed to meet a deadlineDevelop and sustain constructive, appropriate relationships with State regulators and internal stakeholders Drive a culture of excellence and knowledge regarding State regulatory policies and procedures for biotechnology, biological and chemistry-based products, to ensure compliance Represent Monsanto in State-level regulatory industry associations and State outreach venuesWork with US federal Regulatory Affairs colleagues, US business teams, supply chain teams, and law, as appropriate, to develop, implement and track products using a robust State submission strategy, and to manage issuesWork with the State Regulatory Affairs team, Regulatory Strategy & Operations, and the IT organization on continuous improvement projects and IT tools for State submissionsQualifications:Required Education and Skills: ?? Prior experience and good understanding of State regulations for agrochemicals, microbials, and/or agbiotech is considered a strong plus.?? Prior experience leading successful interactions with State regulatory governing bodies/agencies considered a strong plus.?? Successful experience planning and managing a budget?? Successful experience delivering on process improvement initiatives ?? Strong background and experience in Microsoft access, Excel, Word, PDF and other electronic systems is helpful??
