This role is responsible for delivering high quality product to our customers, when they want it. The role is also responsible for actively searching out ways for us to continuously improve our quality, cost and delivery. The Value Stream Leader will lead the operators, work team enablers, schedulers, technical trainers, coordinators, and other roles as defined who are responsible for the manufacturing and weekly scheduling of the value stream product. The role will also closely interact with support enablers in maintenance, quality, warehouse, and planning to assure the success of the Value Stream. The Value Stream Leader is expected to have a strong grounding in Lean principles, and a hunger to continue to learn Lean thinking and techniques, and apply those to real world situations. Responsibilities:
* Provide routine communications of value stream goals to internal teams * Mentor and develop coordinators and other team members * Role-model lean leader behaviors and vigorously support implementation of tactical Lean improvements, with the ultimate goal of allowing lean culture to flourish
* Perform process confirmation of standard work * Build strong partnership with value stream sponsor, maintenance, quality, and warehouse * Develop budget and operational standards for all operational aspects of value stream
* Annual goal for overtime and active management to the goal * Metrics to ensure process is delivering budgeted results * Create strategic plans to:
* Improve OEE to achieve specific goals * Reduce quality and safety incidents to targeted levels * Ensure operation capable of producing to demand * Support full value stream lead time reduction * Manage inventories to targeted level * Prioritize projects to support operational improvements * Drive Lean continuous improvements
* Lead SNAP events * Quality incident investigations and write-ups * Develop suggestion program and enable “just do it” solutions * Improve on standard work for all operations positions * Perform process confirmations * Author QARs for area deviations and identify meaningful preventive actions * Approve material orders in SAPAdditional Duties and Responsibilities Include:Functional/Technical Knowledge: Exhibits an applied degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. Discretion, Latitude, Level of Independence: Acts independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs. Plans programs to accomplish long-range objectives. Work is checked only to the effectiveness of results obtained, typically requiring a long-term perspective. Assignments are often self-initiated. Virtually self-managed. Leads project teams to identify/resolve complex issues. Recommends course of action within discipline, to address unique issues. Establishes policies for organizational units. Recommends changes to companywide policies. Persuades, negotiates, and collaborates with other departments and/or global functions to achieve mutual goals.Teamwork/Influence: Serves as consultant to the site leadership team in long-range site planning and significant matters relating to long-term policies, programs and capabilities. Represents the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact on contracts or operations. Conducts briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives. Interacts with equivalent level managers concerning matters of significance to the company. Job focus is on operational results, tactics, and strategy. Frequent involvement in daily, ongoing operations. Generally accomplishes results through coordinator level. Assures that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained. Understands business drivers and identifies and influences key decision makers to impact decision making.Time Span of Work: Projects and tasks covering long-term (1 to 3 years) deliverables. Progress of work is measured at major milestones. Influences future evolution of discipline at Zoetis (i.e., how work will be done in the future). Minimum Qualifications * Education / Experience: Science, engineering, management or related degree desired, and 5-10 years supervisory/management experience and demonstrated knowledge of operations, scientific, technical, business and leadership principles, * Language Skills: Effective written and oral communication * Computer Skills:
Microsoft Applications. Ability to quickly learn new platforms including SAP, Ariba purchasing, Event Tracking System for deviations and change control, etc. * Physical Demands: Frequent time in the manufacturing area around equipment with moving parts. * Work Environment: Office/computer environment, with frequent time in the manufacturing.
