ADM Nutrition division is seeking a vanilla process expert to provide process engineering expertise in the area of vanilla extractions.Preferably, the candidate will have experience setting up a vanilla extraction plant or unit operations within a plant. Collaborate with the technical community within to provide vanilla process engineering expertise as needed to develop vanilla ranging from low to high ?folds?, sustain quality products to our customersEnsure stewardship of viable capital projects from inception to commissioningEffective management of personnel and resources to balance schedules, budgets, and scope/quality of projectsProvide oversight of equipment and contractor personnel during the course of project by working in the field on a daily basisWritten and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics shall be provided to managers and other stakeholdersDevelop requests for proposals, equipment sizing, equipment utility lists, detailed P&ID?s, and other front end engineering tasksProactively participate in safety, environmental, quality, and production processes in order to ensure compliance with all company policies and proceduresAssist in developing operating procedures and training production personnel on unit operations for start-upMaintain an awareness of industry trends and investigate the means by which projects can be improved, implemented, and managed – this includes capturing lessons learned and developing best practices ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures
Minimum of Bachelor?s degree in Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related disciplineMinimum of 5 years of project/process engineering experience working with manufacturing processes used for extraction, vanilla extraction required and know how to manipulate such processes to create extracts that deliver to our targets, e.g. temperature, pressure, time, etc. Must be able to apply engineering competencies to practical real world situationsEmployee will help design process systems and equipment required for the production of company productsGeneral knowledge of codes, relevant standards, and materials/metallurgy related to processing equipmentKnowledge of industrial chemical plant processes and related systems such as: pressure vessels, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, utilities, and other unit operations is desiredStrong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to be a valued colleague in this facility. The candidate must be able to effectively interact with multiple employees and managers. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct wayThe candidate must be able to continuously improve utilizing independent judgment to solve problems and have excellent organizational skills in order to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, budgets, schedules, and other resources. Excellent communication skills ? both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo, Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Word, and SharePoint), and AutoCAD.
Physical Demands: Employee will work in plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management. The physical requirements of the job require ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a must.
